Given the ridiculous amount of content that's typically found in Yakuza games and spin-off titles, most should already have a pretty good idea of what to expect. For those who don't though, shining some light on this matter is the precise purpose of this guide, with details regarding the length of Lost Judgment down below.

Updated December 14, 2021 by Tom Bowen: It's been a few months now since the release of Lost Judgment, meaning that the price of the game is beginning to drop on certain sites and platforms. With this in mind, those looking for a game with plenty of additional content and side activities may want to consider checking it out, as it offers more than most in both regards. On the other hand, anybody hoping for a short game may want to look elsewhere, as, like its predecessor and the Yakuza series from which the two games spun off, Lost Judgment isn't a game that can be beaten quickly.

How Long Does it Take to Beat Lost Judgment?

Put simply, players who plan to focus exclusively on Lost Judgment’s main story can expect to complete the game in around 20 to 25 hours. While this figure can vary somewhat based on the difficulty setting that players select (there are four to choose from initially), it is a fairly realistic baseline. That said, players can extend their playtime with the game considerably by engaging with its myriad of optional content.

There are a total of 42 Side Cases in Lost Judgment as well as 10 expansive School Stories, an activity type that was not featured in the game's predecessor. Those looking to complete all of this optional content can expect their total playtime to increase to around 50 hours once all's said and done.

Anyone who's aiming to unlock every trophy/achievement in the game and reach 100% completion is in for a rough ride due to how much there is to see and do in Lost Judgment. Between the many collectibles and the plethora of TownGo missions, completionists can expect to spend around 100 hours getting everything done.

It's worth noting that one of the main reasons that it takes so long to reach 100% completion is that one of Lost Judgment’s trophies is only granted after the game has been beaten at its highest difficulty setting. That difficulty is "Legend," which is only unlocked after players have completed the main story on a lower difficulty setting.

With all this in mind, players will need to complete the game at least twice before they can earn the difficult Platinum trophy, though the second playthrough needn't be as long as the first. Thankfully, all TownGo progress carries over when starting in new game plus mode, meaning that players can work towards these missions across both of their playthroughs.

For those who are curious, these numbers are very much in line with the completion times for the game's predecessor Judgment. This is sure to please Yakuza fans who are looking for a similarly-sized experience, and indeed there is quite a lot of content to be enjoyed in Lost Judgment.

  • Main Story: Around 20 Hours
  • All Side Cases & School Stories: Around 50 Hours
  • 100% Completion: Around 100 Hours
