Celebrities and 'War in the North' Developers Discuss Their Love For 'Lord of the Rings'

War In The North Trailers Show Love For Franchise

It's a common rule of thumb to be wary when buying licensed games, a rule proven by most movie tie-ins (read: cash-ins). But in the latest two Lord of The Rings: War In The North trailers, the team at Snowblind Studios reassures apprehensive gamers that they have what it takes to create a compelling experience. Both trailers also feature some famous faces discussing their love of Tolkien's masterwork.

To start off, it's quite clear that many of the key people at Snowblind Studios are huge fans of the Lord of The Rings universe. As documented in the"Love of Middle Earth" trailer, many of they key crew members discuss their fondest memories of the books and the films, ensuring that they will do justice to the series when crafting Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

Check out what the team has to say below:

In the second trailer, titled "Legend of The Rings," the team and their famous pals -including Dominic Monaghan of Fellowship of the Ring fame, as well as Kunal Nayyar from The Big Bang Theory and Brian Posehn from The Sarah Silverman Show - detail the impact the Lord of The Rings books and films have had on our culture, discussing many of the things that would not exist had it not been for the success of these books.

It's clear from watching these videos that the team at Snowblind isn't just interested at making War in the North a quick cash-in -- they appear to have a genuine love for and attachment to the series, which has impacted their lives greatly. For fans of Lord of the Rings, this should come as good news, knowing that the game is in capable hands. It also helps that Snowblind has a pretty impressive track record (briefly recounted in our War in the North reveal), so if anyone can turn The Lord of the Rings into a high quality action-RPG, it's them.

The game is also said to feature many of the locales from the Lord Of The Rings films, as well as a brutal combat system -- and when we say brutal, we don't mean difficult, but that the combat is tremendously visceral. For fans of the series, or action-RPG fans in general, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Lord of The Rings: War In The North is set to release November 1, 2011, for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC
