Of the many titles to be released in the near future, Lord of the Rings: Gollum is one that a lot of players have had their eye on for some time. With an inventive take on a Lord of the Rings character that, up until now, has yet to be explored in a video game format, Lord of the Rings: Gollum shows a lot of promise. Now, at long last, some gameplay footage has been revealed.

Ever since Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced in March 2019, the game has garnered a curious fascination among many in the gaming community. Though, there hasn't been much by way of official news regarding the game or its release. Today, players have now been given a better idea of what to expect from the final product.

After announcing yesterday that Lord of the Rings: Gollum would be receiving a gameplay reveal, many fans were excited for what was to come. What Daedalic Entertainment delivered was an, admittedly, very brief gameplay trailer, but does give some semblance of what players can hope to find in the game.

Based on what is shown in the trailer, it seems the vast majority of the game will be stealth based. This makes a lot of sense considering how much quicker and agile Gollum's character is compared to the swordsmen protagonists found in games like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. There also appears to be quite a lot of climbing segments, which could mean platforming elements play a central role.

In addition to gameplay, the trailer also showed off a lot of scenery. Along with the iconic setting of Mordor, a lot of footage of what seems to be goblin mines appeared throughout the trailer, which is where Gollum lives underground. This could imply the events of the game take place shortly after his appearance in The Hobbit.

This gameplay trailer does not give too much away, but it also doesn't illustrate any of the gameplay elements that have already been established. Reportedly, Lord of the Rings: Gollum will feature stealth, non-linear level design, and NPC allies, but other than some stealth mechanics, none of those elements were shown off during this trailer. With any luck, Daedalic Entertainment will have more to show fans in the coming months.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
