A fan has recut the trailer to the upcoming Marvel series Loki with the music from 2019’s Midsommar. The mash-up gives the typically light-hearted Loki a more eerie and menacing vibe.

Midsommar was directed by Ari Aster (Hereditary) and followed a group of students who travel to Sweden for a festival that occurs once every 90 years. The trip takes a dark turn once the group realizes that they are at the hands of a violent pagan cult. Midsommar earned $47 million worldwide and starred Florence Pugh, who will next be seen as Yelena Belova in Marvel’s Black Widow. Aster, on the other hand, is teaming up with Joaquin Phoenix for Disappointment Blvd.

Robert E. Acuna recently swapped out the music from the Loki trailer with the score familiar to fans of Midsommar. The editor/animator gave the forthcoming Disney Plus series a frightening vibe by using the song “The Dance of Death” by Audiomachine, which was notably featured in Midsommar’s trailer. Acuna posted the video on YouTube and has also recut the trailers to films like Good Boys, Joker, and It Chapter Two.

Loki was created by Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty) and will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role from the MCU. Hiddleston’s Loki has appeared in six films to date and was killed by Thanos in the opening scene of Avengers: Infinity War. In Avengers: Endgame, a version of Loki from the past used the Tesseract to escape from the Avengers. The beloved character first appeared in 1962’s Journey into Mystery #85 and was created by legendary Marvel writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciler Jack Kirby.

The six-episode series takes place following the events of Endgame and centers on an alternate version of Loki who is asked by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to fix timelines he broke. The cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, and Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius. The series is looking to build off of the success of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which just wrapped its first season and had the most-watched series premiere for Disney Plus.

Loki is one of several Marvel shows that will be released on the streaming service over the next few years. Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry is set to star alongside Tatiana Maslany in She-Hulk. Meanwhile, the Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke-led Moon Knight will be starting production this spring. Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development Nate Moore recently revealed that, unlike the other Marvel series, Loki's story lends itself to multiple seasons.

Loki will be released on Disney Plus on June 11, 2021.
