With the filming of Loki season 2 in full force, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will be getting a lot more of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief sooner than later on Disney Plus for streaming. Season one of Loki ended with a massive bang as Sylvie (played by Sophia Di Martino) killed ‘He Who Remains’ also known as Kang the Conqueror (played by Johnathan Majors). This led to chaos as the multiverse was unleashed.

He Who Remains also eerily warned the pair that he would return, as new timelines would manifest themselves within the multiverse. The finale closed with the statue of the Time Keepers being switched out for a statue of Kang the Conqueror. With season 1 being such a massive success, receiving great praise from both fans and critics, Loki season 2 has some big shoes to fill. Here are some things that will hopefully appear in season 2 of the series.

Loki Season 2- 5 More Time-Hopping Marvel Characters That Should Show Up

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves towards portraying more diverse stories in both their big and small screen content, fans got to see Loki come out as bisexual in the first season of the Disney Plus series. The moment marked a major step forward for members of the LGBTQ+ community, who have been anticipating a moment like this within the Marvel Universe.

Stemming back to the God of Mischief's origin in both comics and Norse mythology, Loki’s sexuality and gender fluidity is a massive attribute of the character's identity. Perhaps Loki's newest adventure will explore more of the character's sexuality and how he grapples with this part of himself. This will not only bring a raw experience for viewers, but will also keep these stories heightened within the Marvel Universe. They are such important stories to depict in media today.

More Kang & Judge Ravonna Renslayer

Of course fans love to see their favorite heroes on screen, but these heroes are nothing without a bad guy to battle. So in season 2, many fans are hoping to see more Kang and Ravonna Renslayer (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw). As seen in season 1 of Loki, Renslayer is one of the Time Variance Authority operatives, also known as Hunter A-23. She set out to capture Sylvie, who inevitably escaped.

However, in the comics Renslayer, has a very close relationship with Kang, as she is one of Kang's closest allies. In Marvel Comics, Renslayer also acts as a love interest to Kang on top of being an ally. The chances of this pair coming together in season 2 is likely if the writers have decided to stay true to their comic origins. This would be a very fun storyline to explore as it will give fans a deeper look into whom these characters are.

New Variants

Unarguably one of the best parts of Loki season 1 was getting to see the different variants of Loki, some of these being Classic Loki (played by Richard E. Grant), Boastful Loki (played by DeObia Oparei), Kid Loki (played by Jack Veal), and Alligator Loki. The introduction of these characters brought a fun flare to the series as well as some comedy.

As season 2 enters a whole new branch of the story, there is definitely room for new variants of both Loki and even Sylvie to be introduced. With so much room for both new introductions and cameos, the way Marvel Studios chooses to incorporate variants into the next season will definitely be one to watch. Hopefully, it's done in ways that will serve the main plot.

More Multiverse Weirdness

Kevin Feige confirmed that phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are the ‘Multiverse Saga,’ so it's only fitting that fans get more of that in season 2 of Loki. With the most recent Disney Plus releases like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law focusing more on characters' origins, these multiverse elements weren’t as present in the story as many fans would have hoped.

However, as Loki already has a firm presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this allows for the writers to play a lot more with the topic of the multiverse. And with the characters' close encounters with Kang and the TVA, it's definitely fair to say season 2 of Loki will have multiverse elements sprinkled throughout.

A Thor Cameo

Thor-and-Loki

Besides the God of Mischief, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And considering that fans haven’t seen the pair together onscreen since the early minutes of Avengers Infinity War, season 2 of Loki could be a perfect opportunity for a family reunion. There are many ways this could be done through time travel, variants, and the vast multiverse. There are many routes that can be taken; however, fans are calling for the Asgardian siblings to come together once again in season 2.

With season 2 of Loki rumored to hit Disney Plus for streaming sometime during summer 2023, fingers remained crossed in hopes that the wishes of fans will be granted on the small screen. Hopefully, burning questions about the future of Loki's role within the multiverse saga are answered.
