Marvel Studios’ Loki became one of its most popular series, with fans still discussing theories and what the future holds for the God of Mischief two weeks after the finale aired. Each character in the series had their own quirks and fans loved the uniqueness that the show embodies. Now, Marvel has released a new featurette that explains how some of the fan-favorite digital characters were created.

Throughout the first season of Loki, fans wondered what was the truth behind the Time Keepers and Miss Minutes, the cute mascot clock. While the secret behind the Time Keepers was revealed before the season ended, Miss Minutes still remains at large and fans hope to see more of her in the future. But, for now, they can see how these popular characters were brought to life.

In the Marvel featurette, Loki VFX Supervisor Brad Parker talks about these characters and the amount of work that has to be put in to ensure that they can look real. Miss Minutes always seems to pop up in the Time Variance Authority’s headquarters, providing information to Judge Ravonna Renslayer and other TVA employees. Parker refers to her as a “contemporary hologram” and it seems like a lot of work had to be done before the artists settled on her final look. As an animated character living in a normal world, a lot of digital effects had to be used to make Miss Minutes seem like a natural part of her environment. Additionally, the actors were provided an LED lamp during shooting so that they would know where to look in a scene where their character was interacting with the clock.

The Time Keepers, who were revealed to be androids, were also “entirely digitally created” and were voiced by a single actor. The visual artists began with creating a sculpture and then adding all the textures and background. They had to ensure that “the cloth looks real” and “their skin looks the way it needs to.” All the movements of the Time Keepers were hand-drawn and then these drawings were rendered into the scene.

For Parker, it meant a lot to be a part of Loki because he was able to participate in bringing new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and decide what they would look like. “To be able to identify who they are is really exciting because you know that that work will live on in the future,” he is heard saying at the end of the featurette.

It is already known that the second season of Loki will be released and it won’t be a surprise if the TVA or even Miss Minutes make an appearance in another Marvel project. The Multiverse has already been introduced and a lot of crossovers are expected in the future.

Loki is now streaming on Disney Plus.
