A new teaser trailer for Fallout 4 gives players a taste of the game’s post-apocalyptic world, with Dion’s ‘The Wanderer’ as a perfect audio backdrop to the game.

Bethesda released a new trailer today for its upcoming, open-world, post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 4, that features ‘The Wanderer’ by Dion. The 1961 song plays against a backdrop of a world destroyed by nuclear war as the protagonist exits Vault 111 and sets off wandering the vast destruction that was once beautiful Boston, Massachusetts.

‘The Wanderer’ song presents the perfect amount of ironic cheerfulness as the Fallout 4 wanderer roams the barren landscape with his four-legged pal, Dogmeat, fighting off enemies and gearing up in an armor suit.

The trailer is very simple, without much new for Fallout fans when it comes to gameplay and content, but it’s sure to excite those looking forward to the game. And with just under a month until release, the hype train is moving full-speed ahead.

Interestingly, the video never shows the character’s face, which is likely on purpose considering players will have an opportunity to customize their character’s gender and looks to match their interests and play style.

The environment in the Fallout 4 video is all open wasteland too, which is interesting considering the game is supposed to take place around the Boston area. Granted, after a massive nuclear bomb goes off, there’s likely not much left of the city beyond a few skyscraper skeletons, but hopefully players will have an opportunity to visit the depths of Boston along with the outlying neighborhoods. The skyline at the end of the video provides a little hope that players will be visiting the Athens of America.

Also at the end of the video is an inviting message to viewers of “Welcome Home.” The message is intriguing for a couple reasons: first, gamers are excited to once again enter the Fallout universe, so a welcome message from Bethesda is sure to be appreciated. Second, since players will be building bases in the game, the landscape truly is their new home.
