The Mammoth King is an optional boss in Live a Live's Prehistory chapter, and it is one of the most difficult enemies in the entire game. Indeed, the Mammoth King's massive health pool and ability to evade attacks can make it very hard to bring it down. For those players that may find themselves struggling to slay the Mammoth King in Live a Live, or are simply trying to find it, this guide contains full details on this secret boss.

Live a Live: Mammoth King Location

The Mammoth King can be found in the open area that Pogo is tossed into when he is banished from the starting area. To track down the boss, Live a Live players should sniff for clouds and approach them until one displays a mammoth icon. When that occurs, fans should interact with the exclamation point that appears to initiate the battle.

Live a Live: How to Beat Mammoth King

Before making serious attempts at taking down the Mammoth King, it is recommended that players get Pogo to approximately Level 15. While it is possible to defeat the boss prior to that point, putting some effort toward leveling up will definitely make the process less painful. Fans should also spend some time gearing up through Live a Live's Prehistory crafting system, and the Fertility Charm, which can be used to cast Pray Heal in battle, is a particularly important craftable item to have on hand.

With these preparations made, fans of classic JRPGs should engage the Mammoth King and position Pogo in front of the beast so that his Poke Bind ability will connect. Pogo should now simply spam that ability to damage the foe and hopefully inflict it with Paralysis. Meanwhile, Gori should be positioned one tile to Pogo's right, and he should spam the aforementioned Fertility Charm and Huge Haunches of Meat, which can be farmed from regular Mammoths, to keep the party alive.

To only time that Gori should stop his healing efforts is when the Mammoth King casts Great Fire Boom and creates Fire Tiles beneath itself. When that occurs, Gori should use Poop Throw or Prickly Stones, another craftable item, to replace those tiles and prevent the boss from healing. That said, SNES RPG fans should make sure to only use this character in an offensive role when Pogo has a reasonable amount of health.

To note, while this strategy is definitely effective, fans may not bring down the Mammoth King the first time that they utilize it. Indeed, there is some amount of randomness to the battle, and a few too many missed stuns can completely swing things in the wrong direction. However, players that are persistent will be able to beat the Mammoth King in Live a Live's Prehistory chapter using the information contained within this guide.

Live a Live: Mammoth King Rewards

Players can earn two rewards by defeating the Mammoth King: the Cola Bottle and the Fang of the King. With respect to the Cola Bottle, this item can be used to gain +30 Speed and execute an attack that delivers 10 massive strikes. This item is unbelievably powerful, though players may need to beat the Mammoth King several times before they see it. The Fang of the King, on the other hand, is always awarded upon slaying this secret boss, and it grants +20 Physical Attack in the Live a Live remake.

Live a Live is available now on Switch.
