'LittleBigPlanet Karting' Debut Trailer Drifts Into View

LittleBigPlanet Karting, one of the worst kept gaming secrets this year, has officially been revealed. Ever since images of the game leaked via twitter early last month, PlayStation 3 owners have been waiting for the day when Sony would get around to making the big announcement. Well, the big day is finally here, and if the new trailer for LittleBigPlanet Karting is any indication, kart racing enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to.

Karting veterans and ModNation Racers developers, United Front Games, will be the team behind Sackboy's foray into the wonderful world of racing. LittleBigPlanet Karting will feature many of the wonderful creativity options that made the first two platformers in the series so much fun, but will also be trying out a few new things, as well. United Front Games has done a stellar job with the ModNation Racers games, and they seem like the perfect group to take this new spin-off and do something awesome with it.

As may be expected from a game baring the title 'LittleBigPlanet,' players are going to be able to modify a plethora of different things — including the appearance of the vehicle they'll be driving. The trailer will definitely be enough to get long-time fans of the PS3-exclusive series excited, so without any further delay, check it out for yourself.

Previous reports stated that LittleBigPlanet Karting would make use of the PlayStation Move peripheral, but Sony has yet to officially confirm that. It seems likely that the game will include Move functionality though, especially since LittleBigPlanet 2 featured Move support, so there shouldn't be too much concerned placed in that non-issue. What's really interesting is that Sony has decided to put this game on United Front Games' plate, which makes me wonder if this could be the beginning of the end for the short-lived ModNation Racers series  — it doesn't really make any sense to have more than one first-party kart racing game on your platform, after all.

LittleBigPlanet Karting will be coming exclusively to PS3 later this year. Now, where's the Vita port at, Sony?
