Sumo Digital and Sony are bringing Sackboy back with LittleBigPlanet 3, the much-awaited next-generation game from the popular series. We predicted Sumo Digital would be taking the reigns for the latest iteration more than a year ago, and after plenty of development progress they've finally released a fun-filled debut trailer for LittleBigPlanet 3. Introducing plenty of new gameplay features and the nostalgic sound of sackboy pushing levers, the new trailer is sure to excite fans of the series who have waited almost three years for news of a proper third title in the series.

Sackboy brings three more friends along for his latest adventure, and each has their own unique skill to bring to the table. First is Oddsock, who has the ability to bound up and over various walls throughout the game. Swoop the bird, predictably, is able to swoop and fly through maps. Last is Toggle, who can transform into his big strongman mode, or shrink himself to a tiny speeding Toggle that can even run over water.

Sackboy was last seen fighting for his place in the fun-but-underperforming PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, so its good to see him return to the main game which introduced the world to the lovable hero. He returns to the scene with an all new climbing ability, as well as several new weapons in his arsenal - including the ominous-sounding Pumpinator. The new characters can now jump through even more layers on-screen, allowing them to zipline right up to the screen and back again.

Players will travel to the mysterious world of Bunkum (which, of course, is slang for 'nonsense') and face the evil sack-person Newton, who is attempting to destroy a world filled with creativity. Given that the nemesis of the game is named Newton, we wouldn't be surprise to witness several gravity-defying moments throughout the game.

From day one, gamers will be able to play over 8.5 million levels created and uploaded from the previous game, meaning there will already be a plethora of levels to jump into. Of course, with so many new features being introduced into the series, expect players to begin quickly uploading countless amounts of new material as well.
