This year’s big games might all already be out, but 2011 is just around the corner and it has its own slate of AAA releases planned and ready to go. LittleBigPlanet 2 is one game that looks to fit that bill and a new story-mode trailer was just released to help make the case. Sure you have read our beta impressions and our detailed interview with Media Molecule, but this trailer brings its own special feeling to the mix, showcasing Sackboy’s upcoming adventure.

The amount of content in this game seems staggering. From the practically limitless creation possibilities to a whole new story mode, LittleBigPlanet 2 could very well keep gamers occupied for all of 2011. While some people had problems with the physics or the somewhat overwhelming and at times difficult level creation tools, the story in the first LBP was fun, inventive, and generally a joy to experience. The game really managed to keep things interesting with some form of story without beating gamers over the head with it. It also served as a great way to introduce players to new levels and mechanics slowly but surely. It seemed like every level brought something new to the table. Media Molecule’s creativity with their level design was pretty fun to see and explore.

Based on the trailers and information released so far LittleBigPlanet 2 looks to bring even more of that magic and inventive level design to the table, pushing Sackboy into new worlds. This game is really looking pretty incredible. Hopefully it can deliver on the promise shown and the story will prove just as fun and creative as some of the user-made levels.

What do you think? Are you getting excited for LittleBigPlanet 2? Does the story mode interest you at all or are you more excited about all the new ways you can create your own levels? What part of this latest trailer looks the best and what part looks the worst to you? Let us know in the comments below.

LittleBigPlanet 2 lands exclusively on the PS3 on January 18, 2011.
