In addition to being the only child in the Little Nightmares series to actually speak, he is also the only one to show his entire face to the player. And while he is the protagonist at the start of the game, he becomes the antagonist at the end.

8 Mono Has An Interesting Name

It was revealed in an interview with the narrative designer for Little Nightmares, David Mervik, that Mono's name is based on the number one. This is similar to Six whose name is also based on a number (six).

However, fans speculate that Mono's name may also be a reference to "monochrome television" (black-and-white television) which is a big part of the game.

7 Mono Is Just A Boy

When it comes to appearance, Mono is short and pale, and skinny. He hides his face under a brown paper bag (that has holes cut out for the eyes so he can see). Underneath this mask, Mono has short and messy black hair. His face, like his body, is thin and he has dark-colored eyes.

Mono sports a green trench coat that has a button and a gray shirt tucked in as well as brown pants (rolled up). He does not wear shoes and keeps items he finds, such as keys, on his side.

6 Mono Is A Good Boy

When it comes to helping others, Mono is up there with some of the greats. He is benevolent and considerate, seen right after the player is introduced to him when he frees Six from the Hunter's house at the beginning of Little Nightmares II.

The assistance does not stop there too. Mono stays by Six's side for the entirety of the game. When she gets captured in the School, he goes out of his way to rescue her.

Also, at the end of the game, when Six is in her monster state being aggressive towards Mono, he again presses on to save her.

5 Mono Thinks The World Hates Him

The official character description for Mono mentions that he wears the paper bag over his head to help him forget that "the world hates him and wants him to fail." It also points out that he hides his face whenever possible.

In addition to being shy, Mono is also determined. Despite being pessimistic and seemingly down on his luck, he is defined as a boy who will not stop until he achieves his goals.

4 Mono Is Courageous

Little Nightmares II Mono Versus The Thin Man

In Little Nightmares II, when facing the Thin Man head-on with nowhere to run, Mono fights back. He does not care that he is injured and outmatched; no, Mono whips his paper bag off his head and takes on the Thin Man.

This is a pivotal part of the game because it shows a different side of Mono. He is no longer shy and cautious. Mono is angry and done.

3 Mono Cared Deeply For Six

When Six becomes a terrifying monster, Mono does not give up on her. Despite being outclassed, he actually challenges her, even throughout Six constantly attacking him. The player even witnesses shakiness in Mono's voice when he yells at her over and over to distract her and weaken her.

After destroying Six's music box and freeing Six from her monster form, Mono escapes the Black Tower with Six. Unfortunately, Six does not return the favor and lets Mono fall to his demise, escaping all by herself.

Only after these events does Mono finally break and accept his dark fate inside the Black Tower. He becomes depressed and bitter, all thanks to Six.

2 Mono Is Connected To Televisions

In Pale City, Mono can control the televisions scattered throughout the land. He has the ability to travel between television sets. That being said, his powers have a limit, as witnessed when he loses control and breaks some after teleporting.

There are not many items at all in Little Nightmares II, but one of them is a remote that Mono uses to turn televisions around him on and off.

1 Mono Is The New Thin Man

After Mono is unable to escape the Black Tower, he is stunned and saddened by Six leaving him behind. The player witnesses him sit down on a hair amidst a pile of flesh, surrounded by dozens of terrifying eyes. He gives up.

The game wraps up with the skipping of time. Mono gets older and taller. The transmission fully corrupts him and he winds up taking on the form of the Thin Man (who was chasing Mono and Six towards the end of the game). The last thing the player sees is him stuck in the room at the end of the hallway, with the door slamming shut.
