Some video games tend to present getting hit by an enemy as a form of punishment, but Final Fantasy 7 completely dismantles this idea. Though a character can only take a certain amount of damage before dying, this decrease in hit points can also fill the Limit Gauge.

Once the Limit Gauge bar has been filled, the player can use an array of powerful attacks unique to each party member. More powerful Limit Breaks are unlocked as the game progresses, allowing one to utilize much more devastating attacks in combat. Final Fantasy 7 Remake incorporated a few Limit Breaks from the original game, so it is easy to predict what to expect in Rebirth.

10 Yuffie's Greased Lightning

Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade

Yuffie will likely be joining the main party in Rebirth due to her depiction in the Intergrade DLC. If this is the case, she will probably be given the chance to show off a few of her Limit Breaks from the original game.

Yuffie's primary Limit Break in the original game was Greased Lightning, so its absence was certainly noticed in Intergrade. As one of her most popular moves, its inclusion in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is almost guaranteed.

9 Yuffie's Clear Tranquil

Like Aerith, Yuffie can call upon the powers of healing whenever she sees fit. Though her healing powers were somewhat lacking when compared to her slightly more powerful ally, there is no denying the power in her Clear Tranquil Limit Break.

The Clear Tranquil Limit allowed the player to heal each party member for half of their total HP. Though it may seem unnecessary to have two healers in one party, the ability to cure characters in close succession could allow for more challenging encounters to be bested at lower levels.

8 Aerith's Fury Brand

Aerith Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Aerith unlocks the Fury Brand Limit Break after using Breath of the Earth 6 times in combat. It is arguably one of the most powerful abilities in the game when it is used correctly but, unfortunately, the original game required it to be used immediately upon filling the Limit Gauge.

Fury Brand is especially helpful in dire situations. It allows the player to fill the Limit Gauge of two other party members, negating the need to wait for each character to do it themselves. Its return in Rebirth would finally allow the player to freely use the ability as they see fit.

7 Aerith's Seal Evil

The original game painted Aerith as nothing more than a magic-user, but the Remake attempted to counteract this false depiction. Now harboring an arsenal of offensive spells, Aerith's next Limit Break will likely see her benefiting the party much more.

The Seal Evil Limit allowed Aerith to inflict a variety of status effects on her enemies. Unfortunately, it will not affect those who are immune to the status, but its ability to quickly negate an encounter's threat is difficult to dispute.

6 Tifa's Meteodive

Fans of the series will be more than familiar with Tifa's inhuman strength. Though she is already a force to be reckoned with, her utilization of the Meteodive Limit Break implies that she saves her inner strength for more challenging encounters.

Unlocked after using her Waterkick ability 7 times, Meteodive becomes a subsequent addition to her Limit Break barrage. It allows her to raise her enemies in her hands before slamming them into the floor, dealing 1.625 times more damage than her regular attacks.

5 Tifa's Dolphin Blow

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake allowed the player to harness the power of a dolphin through the Dolphin Flurry ability. The move itself saw Tifa delivering a series of frighteningly fast punches and kicks to an enemy, but unlike the original, the dolphin's inclusion seemed unnecessary.

As one of her most renowned abilities, it would be a shame for it to be absent in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The Dolphin Blow once allowed Tifa to summon a dolphin to her side during the delivery of an uppercut. It was a baffling occurrence, but that was part of its charm.

4 Barret's Grenade Bomb

Final Fantasy 7 Character Designs Barret

Barret unlocked the Grenade Bomb ability after defeating 80 enemies on the battlefield, but this was not the case for the Remake. Restricted to the use of only two Limit Breaks, the Grenade Bomb has likely been reserved for the upcoming sequel.

As one of his few AOE abilities, the Grenade Bomb is an effective means of crowd control. It inflicts non-elemental damage on his opponents and, though the Remake's Fire in the Hole ability was similar, the Grenade Bomb is far more lethal visually.

3 Barret's Mindblow

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Barret Wallace Gun-Arm

Final Fantasy 7 Remake discarded the idea of enemy MP. Certain situations in the original used this feature to turn combat into a waiting game. If an enemy relied heavily on magic-based attacks, all the player would have to do was outlast their amount of MP.

This process could quickly become arduous, but thankfully Barret's Mindblow ability could speed it up. Though it did no physical damage, its ability to drain an opponent's MP proved to be extremely helpful depending on the encounter. Its return would also mark the return of a loved gimmick.

2 Cloud's Blade Beam

For Cloud to successfully use a Limit in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the player was required to time the attack perfectly. If Cloud was too far away from his target, his Limit would end up attacking nothing but the air in front of him.

The return of the Blade Beam Limit would allow for less frustrating combat situations. Having spent time and effort in filling the Limit Gauge only to have it wasted was disheartening, but the Blade Beam Limit could allow Cloud to enact his Limit Break from a safe and promising distance.

1 Cloud's Meteorain

Cloud from Final Fantasy 7

To unlock Meteorain, Cloud must first possess the ability to use Blade Beam. After defeating 200 enemies, he will be rewarded with a devastatingly powerful Limit Break and will be free to use it to decimate his foes.

This Level 3 Limit permits Cloud the opportunity to attack his opponents 6 times all while inflicting 1.625 times more damage with each hit. It is arguably one of the strongest Limits in the game, so there is a high chance for it to return in Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is scheduled to release in Winter 2023.
