Limbo first released on Xbox Live Arcade just over a year ago to critical and commercial success. One of the most thoughtful and engaging puzzle platformers in recent memory (or at least since Braid), the Xbox 360 exclusive left many PC and PS3 fans longing for their own chance to play through the title.

Now, according to developer Playdead Studios, the wait is over - Limbo will arrive this month on PCs and PS3s everywhere.

In a recent post on the Playstation Blog, Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti announced the PSN release date for the critically acclaimed game. Limbo will release July 19th in North America and July 20th in Europe, though the final details are still being ironed out for the Japanese release date - expect to hear news “soon.” Limbo will also launch worldwide for PC through Steam on August 2nd.

However, Limbo’s release date wasn’t the only thing Playdead announced yesterday. The Limbo soundtrack will also be released on Monday July 11th on iTunes.

Playdead also promised: "a little extra secret we have in store for you" - though no details were given. While it’s really up to speculation as to what this "secret"will be - since no pricing information was revealed, maybe the title will launch below the fifteen-dollar price tag it held on Xbox Live. Given the game is only a few weeks away (with the soundtrack launching this Monday), pricing details should be announced soon.

Limbo

Limbo released to many stellar reviews (read our Limbo review) and is one of the most unique titles available on Xbox Live. The game was also the number one selling "Xbox Live “Summer of Arcade" title last year - beating many other high profile games such as Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

If you’re a PSN or Steam user who still has yet to play Limbo will you still pick it up despite the game releasing a year later or have you already lost interest in the title?
