In a year with a ton of great multiplayer experiences, InnerSloth’s Among Us seemed to come out of nowhere and surprise the entire gaming community through its resurgence and success. It’s safe to say that now that the year is almost at its end, Among Us is undoubtedly one of the best multiplayer games of 2020.

Among Us has garnered so much popularity that even many mainstream celebrity figures have taken interest in the game and even entered into the Among Us community in some way. Recently, American musician Lil Nas X streamed Among Us with some massive Twitch streamers like Valkyrae, Pokimane, Ludwig, and many more.

The sheer breadth of Among Us’ popularity over the course of 2020 is quite staggering. Despite being a two-year-old title, the game found new life thanks to Twitch and YouTube content creators and absolutely exploded in popularity. So much so that even celebrity figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez streamed Among Us on Twitch, pulling in huge numbers. Now, American rapper, singer, and songwriter Lil Nas X streamed Among Us with some of those same Twitch streamers featured in AOC’s Among Us stream earlier this year.

The Among Us stream consisted of a full 10 person crew, featuring Twitch streamers like Valkyrae, Pokimame, Ludwig, Sykkuno, and Corpse Husband, alongside Lil Nas X. The stream lasted for about three hours and featured plenty of funny moments between the content creators and Lil Nas X. It’s always an interesting feeling when gamers are reminded just how widespread the gaming community can actually be, such as when mainstream celebrities partake in our favorite pastime. Similar instances have happened plenty of times in the past, such as Brie Larson wanting to play Samus Aran in a Metroid movie due to her love of the character in the Super Smash Bros. series.

It’s also important to mention that these instances of celebrities getting involved with Among Us is a huge net-positive for the game and the team at InnerSloth. Among Us was already incredibly popular before, but recent data analysts are now claiming that Among Us is the most popular game ever in terms of its monthly players. While it must be an overwhelming reality for InnerSloth, who first realized Among Us back in 2018 to middling success compared to now, the team must be overjoyed at the game’s newfound popularity. Already, we are seeing the team bring the game to more and more platforms outside of PC and Mobile.

Recently, InnerSloth revealed Among Us was coming to Nintendo Switch in one of Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase events. The game released later that day and undoubtedly sold incredibly well on the console. Now, Among Us has also been revealed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2021, bringing the game to Xbox consoles as well. Thanks to content creators and big, mainstream celebrities showing interest in the game, Among Us and InnerSloth will surely only continue to grow from here.

Among Us is available for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will be released for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in 2021.
