Fans get another look at Like a Dragon: Ishin! as well as the reveal of which characters will be appearing in the game. Announced at September 13's PlayStation State of Play, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a remake of a 2014 spin-off game set in the Yakuza universe. Unlike most Yakuza games, the original Like a Dragon: Ishin! saw its characters transported to the late 1800s, imagining what the series would be like if it was set in a different era. The 2014 Like a Dragon: Ishin! or Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! as it was known in Japan never released in the West, leading to developer Ryu Ga Gotoku creating the remake.

Set to launch on February 21 2023, Like a Dragon: Ishin! offers more than just a remake of the 2014 title. It will be built on Unreal Engine 4, marking a first for Ryu Ga Gotoku. It is stated that this will lead to significant visual improvements and a quicker development schedule down the road. This will likely feature in the future Like a Dragon or Yakuza games as well. Moreover, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is set to include more extras for those that have already played the 2014 game.

Some new footage for the game was revealed at the RGG Summit, which was followed by a panel with some of Like a Dragon: Ishin's! voice actors. As well as featuring characters from the original Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the remake will also have characters and returning voice actors from other previous games in the franchise, as well as some songs from those titles as well.

The voice actor for Ito Kashitaro, Hitoshi Ozawa, stated that on his YouTube channel, he's been showing off some gameplay for the original Like a Dragon: Ishin! and isn't looking forward to fighting the character he plays when he plays the remake in 2023. The other cast members from previous Yakuza titles also talked about their experience playing their new characters in Like a Dragon: Ishin!. Other prominent Like a Dragon voice actors like Takaya Kuroda who plays Kazuma Kiryu also made an appearance, but not at the panel discussing Like a Dragon: Ishin!

Instead, Kuroda made an appearance following the second of the three big announcements expected at Ryu Ga Gotoku, which was the reveal of Like a Dragon 8. Some already believed that the developer would reveal the latest entry in the Yakuza franchise soon, and with that game as well as Like a Dragon: Ishin! heading to the West, it seems like the popularity of the beloved franchise will continue to soar.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! releases February 21, 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
