Shown off at the Daedalic Entertainment Future Games Pre-Show event, Life of Delta is a brand new adventure from developer Airo Games coming next year. The sci-fi experience sees the player assume the role of Delta: a lone robot venturing across a desolate post-apocalyptic wasteland populated by mutated lizards.

The upcoming release was shown off to Game Rant during a hands-off presentation, with Airo Games offering a closer look at its gameplay and the unique world it's set within. Overall, it looks to be a loving ode to classic adventure games with some notable twists, mainly through its fascinating setting and personable characters.

Life of Delta takes place many years after the human race drove itself to extinction through nuclear war, giving rise to a civilization of mutated lizards and obedient robot slaves. The events of the game take place after a robot named Joe prevents Delta from being decommissioned, saving the poor android from death and attempting to repair it. This is an illegal act in the world of Life of Delta, resulting in Joe being taken away and leaving his new robot friend to fend for himself. The rest of the game follows Delta's adventures through this world, as he meets new friends, escapes enemies, and learns more about the post-apocalyptic wasteland he's been thrust into.

As expected for an adventure game, there are plenty of puzzles to solve along the way, both through standard point and click style exploration and mini-games. A slice of footage shown during the presentation saw Delta tasked with knocking down a red flag to exchange with a local vendor, seeing the robot search for items he can combine to aid in his quest. Repairing a slingshot with a piece of rubber pulled from some sofa cushions, Delta eventually uses a metal ball to knock the flag down, trading it for free passage.

An array of minigames will also be included in the mix, with one seeing Delta moving circuits to power-up a generator and another seeing him match patterns to charge battery cells. However, the main focus appears to be on crafting a world full of memorable things to explore and interact with, whether that's meeting larger-than-life characters or finding humorous secrets throughout the environment. The game's already shaping up to be a personality-fuelled adventure with a ton of heart, making for another solid entry in Daedalic Entertainment's stacked lineup of upcoming releases.

Life of Delta is coming to PC in 2022.
