Chapter 4 marks a major turning point in Life is Strange: True Colors. It starts fun enough with Alex taking part in Haven Spring's Festival activities but soon escalates into a difficult confrontation between Alex and Officer Pike.

After choosing Steph or Ryan and meeting one of them on the apartment's roof, Officer Pike finally shows up at the festival, but he ends up taking Alex into the station and tries to get her to sign an affidavit. Should Alex sign Typhon's document or take Pike's fear away in Life is Strange: True Colors?

Updated on May 9th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: Many of the early decisions in the game, while impactful in certain lights, don't carry too much weight. New players are permitted to explore and try out different combinations and solutions, then see a small and immediate fallout from these choices. However, this decision with Pike is not one of those choices. And, unfortunately, players have actually been exposed to a choice already that misleads them into making the wrong decision here. Some gamers might enjoy making the best decision they can and seeing how it works out. But those going for the best ending will want to know for sure. This article now has two clear answers and details a bit of the fallout of each decision.

The following information will tell players about a major step in getting the 'good' or 'bad' endings and why. Those who want to make this a surprise should not read further.

Taking Pike's Fear

If players choose to take Pike's fear, he will let Alex go without signing the Typhon affidavit and keeps the USB with evidence against Diane and Typhon. The rest of Chapter 4 will play out in much the same way as after signing the affidavit.

Unlike the decision to take Charlotte's anger or leave her alone, taking Pike's fear is actually the right decision to make if players want to get the 'good' ending. It's the only way to secure his allegiance to Alex during an important moment in Chapter 5. It is recommended to take Pike's fear if players want Alex's story to have a satisfying conclusion. This game is easy to get a platinum trophy for but this is one way to potentially mess that up.

Signing The Affadavit

  • Not recommended

If Alex signs the Typhon affidavit in Life is Strange: True Colors, Pike will look relieved and tell her that she did the right thing. Alex looks dejected, but while talking with somebody else at the end of the chapter, she reveals that she only signed it to get Typhon to leave Steph and Ryan alone. Alex is still determined to solve the mystery of Gabe's death and won't back down.

It may seem like Alex is making the right choice by protecting her friends and not manipulating Pike's emotions. However, Pike will not have the courage to take Alex's side during a key moment in Chapter 5. It is not recommended for players to sign the document if they want to get the 'good' ending. Perhaps the future of the franchise will clean up these morality lines a bit.

Life is Strange: True Colors is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
