Life is Strange: True Colors is finally coming to Nintendo Switch. Life is Strange: True Colors will first be released digitally on December 7, 2021, and will then see a physical release on February 25, 2022.

The news comes from the official Twitter account along with a link to pre-order the game. Preordering includes the Alex Outfit Pack, which includes 4 additional outfits to wear in-game.

True Colors is the 5th entry in the Life is Strange series and the 3rd main installment after Life is Strange 2. Unlike its predecessors, it was released in its entirety, despite its chapter-based format. It was developed by Deck Nine, known for its previous work on the series and before rebranding as Idol Minds. Square Enix served as the publisher. At this time retailers only have the Standard Edition listed for the Switch, which doesn't include the Wavelengths DLC.

Life is Strange: True Colors is a graphic adventure utilizing a third-person camera. It follows Alex Chen throughout the community of Haven Springs, Colorado. Alex is a psychic with empathetic powers. This allows her to read and manipulate emotions, which are perceived in-game as colorful auras. Some NPCs will have more powerful emotions that can impact Alex and it falls to the player to navigate these feelings and try to bring comfort to the affected individual.

While it was received well by critics and players, True Colors received largely negative reviews from the Chinese market due to the inclusion of the flag of Tibet. In addition to the games, there has been a comic series since 2018, an in-universe book told through the perspective of a student guide, and a potential television series with Shawn Mendes serving as an Executive Producer.

Even in its own genre, Life is Strange: True Colors stands out on its own. It took ideas presented earlier in the series to another level and is a profoundly emotional experience. It's easy to recommend to anyone seeking a narrative-driven game with strong characters full of life and development. As for it coming to the Switch, well, that's just one more perfect game to play offline and on the go while commuting on the train or for longer trips. Switch owners now have something else to look forward to this holiday season.

Life is Strange: True Colors is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
