With Life is Strange: True Colors and Life is Strange Remastered Collection set to launch later this year, both games have been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch at today's Nintendo Direct.

From new studio Deck Nine, Life is Strange: True Colors is the next installment in the Life is Strange story. This time, players will assume the role of Alex Chen, who has reunited with her brother Gabe after eight years. She struggles with her power of empathy, but after Gabe mysteriously passes away, she must learn to use her power to find the truth. But for those who are hoping to relive Chloe and Max's story, the franchise is also releasing a remastered version of the original Life is Strange game called Life is Strange Remastered.

And along with the original game, the remastered edition will include the prequel game surrounding Chloe and Rachel, Before the Storm, so players can experience Chloe Price's stunning story in its entirety. As the animation below might suggest, Life is Strange: True Colors is set in the same universe as the original Life is Strange, and many fans theorize the upcoming game canonizes the "bae" ending from the original game. Additionally, True Colors ties together the events of Before the Storm.

A familiar face from Before the Storm, Steph Gringrich will appear in the upcoming Life is Strange installment. Much like how the prequel game confirmed her as a queer character, interested in Chloe's love interest Rachel, she will be a romantic love interest for Alex. It's possible that Steph's presence in the game might shed some light on the official fate of Arcadia Bay. Fans of the franchise can also check out the Life is Strange comic series to find out more about the "bae" ending, the events that follow, and how Alex's story connects with Chloe and Max's.

As for True Colors, a recent E3 showcase highlighted how Alex's power of empathy will work, further hyping up the game for its release this fall. Alex can use her powers to dive into the minds of others and use this information to make decisions along the way. However, if the user's emotions are too powerful, Alex may experience hallucinations, visualizing their inner struggle.

While fans can expect to see Alex's heart-wrenching tale pan out in September, Life is Strange Remastered has yet to get a firm release date. Nintendo Switch preorders for both games will open at a later date.

Life is Strange: True Colors will be available September 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
