Life is Strange 3 rumors have been floating around for quite some time now, and it seems Square Enix is finally ready to show off what awaits in the next chapter of this narrative-driven episodic adventure. According to Square Enix's official Twitter account, the company's first digital-direct event will happen later next week and give an update on its existing franchises, alongside new announcements that include the next Life is Strange game.

The Life is Strange 3 rumor mill picked up immensely when notable leaker Navtra teased the game's premise and its title, a few weeks ago. The rumor took an entirely different shape when ResetEra user bing leaked the game's protagonist and the power she embraces. According to them,  Life is Strange 3 is called Life is Strange: True Colors and features an Asian American woman who can read minds. The leak also suggested that Life is Strange 3 in development at Deck Nine, the studio responsible for bringing Life is Strange: Before the Storm to life.

It seems Navtra's rumors were correct, and the next Life is Strange game will be announced on March 18. Square Enix's digital direct event will be 40 minutes long and focus on other Square Enix titles alongside Life is Strange, like Outriders, Marvel's Avengers, Just Cause, Tomb Raider, etc. While Square Enix didn't confirm whether this next Life is Strange is being developed by Dontnod Entertainment or Deck Nine, it did confirm that it focuses on an entirely new cast of characters and features a brand new power.

While this may come as a disappointment to those hoping for a direct sequel to either of the two games, there is another rumor that suggests that a fourth Life is Strange game is also in development. According to the same Resetera user bing, this one is still in pre-production and will serve as a direct sequel to the first Life is Strange. Aside from the fact that it would feature Max and Chloe, no other information was provided.

Previous Life is Strange games have featured some of the best characters and music in video games, and it would be interesting to see how Life is Strange 3 evolves upon what makes these games so good in the first place. It would also be interesting to see whether it takes a wider approach to storytelling, tackling social issues such as racism, etc, as in Life is Strange 2, or take a more subtle approach like the first Life is Strange. While fans don't have much longer to wait, the ones itching for more Dontnod's adventure could try Tell Me Why, whose first episode is now available for free.
