Anyone who has thought to themselves that Mario's iconic red hat and blue overalls are the pinnacle of Nintendo cosplay and high fashion alike may soon be able to emulate their favorite superstar Italian plumber. The Levi's Jeans Twitter account posted a teaser this morning for some kind of Super Mario crossover "coming soon."

To be frank, that "coming soon" is all the account posted alongside a continuously scrolling gif interspersing the Levi's and Super Mario logos with a spinning coin. However, as of this writing, it has gathered nearly 5,000 likes and over 200 comments in the time since being posted, with many coming to the same conclusion: Levi's Super Mario-branded overalls.

There's no telling when Levi's will let the world know more about its deal with Nintendo, but there are plenty of possible options given the variety of Star Wars and Disney-themed merchandise that the company has previously made. If the Super Mario outfit pieces are anything like the pricey Pokemon-themed Original Stitch shirts released last year, they should at least be worth looking into further.

Wearable merchandise is nothing new in the world of marketing, but video game clothing items can be very expensive depending on the brand. Based on the listing of nine Levi's items available at shopdisney.com, their pieces could cost anywhere from $30 to $150, which is by no means a terrible range considering most of that stock carries the Star Wars name.

Overalls would certainly be a unique seller for Levi's, as most companies tend to lean in the direction of flashy casual wear like jackets to promote games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Fallout 76. Some, like Rockstar Games, are even more ambitions: They announced an entire western-themed outfit line based on Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 with Barking Irons.

Another popular trend in recent months has been merchandise being sold for a cause. In the wake of the Australian Bushfires, companies like Kojima Productions have released shirts and such other items meant to raise charitable donations for relief efforts.

It's unlikely that the Levi's Jeans and Super Mario crossover will be promoting a charitable cause, but fans of Nintendo's flagship franchise should keep their wallets handy for the official announcement all the same.
