After much anticipation, Infinity Ward released what it is calling the biggest free content drop in the history of the Call of Duty franchise. Season 1 has begun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and with it comes all kinds of new content including new maps, new game modes, cosmetics, and more. This update isn't one and done either, as Infinity Ward plans to release new content every week from now until January 28.

The biggest piece to Season 1 is arguably the addition of a Battle Pass, giving players a way to unlock new content like weapons, cosmetics, skins, and more. The 100 tiers of content will set players back 1,000 CoD points, which roughly translates to $10. It functions largely as one would expect, with earned XP from playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer or Spec Ops going towards unlocking new tiers.

While simply playing the game gets players the XP needed to unlock new tiers, YouTube JGOD has seemingly found ways to quickly rank up and gain tiers much faster than normal.

Trials

JGOD's first tip was to head over to the Trials mode in the multiplayer section of the game. Before starting a new trial, he then activated a Double XP token that he had previously unlocked through playing the game. After activation, he went through and either 2 or 3 starred as many Trials as he could. Considering most Trial missions don't go over a minute and a half, this mode can get players huge amounts of XP in a very short amount of time, especially with a double XP bonus enabled.

Rank Progression

In addition, the double XP bonus also applies to the player's Rank Progression challenges as well. These are typically things that a player would normally achieve through typical multiplayer matches like getting 5 headshots, get hipfire kills, destroy enemy killstreaks, etc etc.  So finishing a challenge that would normally award 15,000 XP instead grants 30,000 XP. Additional challenges unlock the higher the player's rank is, so focusing on certain ones are a very easy way to get loads of XP.

Game Modes

Taking into account loading screens and between match waiting periods, JGOD recommends taking part in the larger Ground War mode to more efficiently accrue XP. The matches last a bit longer at anywhere from 14-18 minutes, but players are using that added time to continue earning XP rather than sitting in a lobby, viewing a loading screen, or waiting to matchmake between games.

CoD Points

CoD Points are a premium currency that are account based, not game based. Longtime players likely have CoD Points attached to their account from previously earning or buying them and they can be used to unlock new tiers here. However, doing that isn't recommended as each specific tier costs about a $1.50, which would put the grand total at $150 to unlock everything. If players are going to be playing multiplayer anyway, it's more than likely that most players will have the battle pass completed before the season comes to a close at the end of January 2020.

As JGOD summarizes it, simply playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for 35-45 minutes a day or 3 and a half hours on average in a week, players will reach the end of the Battle Pass before season 1 ends.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
