Announced during Gamescom last year, Lemnis Gate looks to be a very different experience to most multiplayer first-person shooters, forcing players to think from a new perspective as they utilize time travel to defeat opponents. While the game was initially slated to launch on August 3, it seems developer Ratloop Games needs a little longer to add the finishing touches, recently confirming that it's delaying the game's release.

Lemnis Gate has been officially pushed back by a month, with the new date falling on September 28. Discussing why the team made the decision in a statement, Ratloop claimed that it needed some extra development time to make sure the game is the best it can possibly be.

"Our vision with Lemnis Gate is to create a fresh new gaming experience that appeals to both FPS and Strategy players alike," the statement reads. "It has become clear that we need a little more time to ensure everyone has a great experience from day one." Ratloop concludes the statement by thanking fans for their interest and support, noting how amazing it is to see players showing such excitement towards the team's passion project. The delay won't hinder the release of the game's beta, which is still set to make its way to Steam on July 22.

The early preview of the game will allow players to try out two game modes: Retrieve XM, which tasks players with recovering an object, and Domination, which sees players compete to claim the most accelerators on a map. As for where they'll get to compete in these contests, there will be four locales on offer, with players doing battle in the Quarry, Tectonic Wells, Arbor, and Chimera maps. Throughout their matches, players will be able to unlock a host of exclusive skins for their operatives and weapons. The beta will begin on July 22 at 10:00 AM PT and conclude on July 26 at 10:00 AM PT.

For those who didn't catch Lemnis Gate's announcement trailer, it's an online shooter that uses time travel as a strategic element. Players will do battle in a similar fashion to other first-person shooters, however, the twist is that they'll eventually revert to the beginning of a time loop, giving them the opportunity to use their previous self to get an upper hand on their opponent. It allows players to outsmart their friends using an array of time-bending tactics, with the unique concept forcing them to constantly think outside the box.

Those wanting to see the game in action can take a look at a Lemnis Gate gameplay trailer posted by Ratloop last month. The early look at the game does a good job at setting up its surreal concept, showing two teams duking it out using time-manipulating strategies.

Lemnis Gate is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on September 28.
