The time-bending competitive multiplayer FPS Lemnis Gate is getting delisted from all platforms, with its online servers going down a few months down the line. Having initially launched in 2021, the satisfying, engaging, yet admittedly complex FPS has seemingly failed to find its audience, and developer Ratloop Games has decided to take it all down.
While most players agreed that Lemnis Gate was worth playing even if only for its fascinating mixture of genres and tropes, its premise hasn't panned out as well as the developer might have hoped. For the time being, however, players will still have an opportunity to experience the game as it was intended to be played.
Lemnis Gate will be delisted from all PC and console storefronts on April 11, 2023. From that point onward, said Ratloop, it's going to be impossible to purchase the game on any platform, but the good news is that the owners will still have a chance to get a few matches. Specifically, Ratloop will keep the Lemnis Gate multiplayer servers running until July 11, and if much of the game's player base returns to give it one more go before it all goes down, it should be pretty easy to see and experience what it was all about.
As one of the finest time loop games of 2021, Lemnis Gate presented players with a unique premise: allowing anyone and everyone to turn back time whenever they want. This resulted in a wealth of tactical opportunities and combat scenarios where several different timelines coincided and overlapped with one another in real time. However, the game's complexity was also fairly undeniable and may have put people off.
Reviews of Lemnis Gate praised the game's hybridized turn-based combat, explaining how it had every bit of potential to end up being a true sleeper hit. This potential, however, was never realized, most likely because it never managed to reach the sort of critical mass a smaller-scale multiplayer FPS needs in order to persevere.
Most players should give Lemnis Gate a try if they have the chance and inclination to do so, but it's worth highlighting the fact that console players will still be able to access local multiplayer and training modes even after July 11. On PC, on the other hand, players will be unable to even enter the game's menu, which is a shame to see.
Lemnis Gate will be available until April 11 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
