The LEGO games have always been popular, but that’s not to say that every decision has been popular. When TT games started making these titles with full voice acting, such as in the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, some believed the sub-franchise lost a bit of its charm. Language in LEGO games prior amounted to mumbles, small noises, and sometimes incoherent gestures, and a lot of communication happened via visual gags. Many don’t mind the shift to voice acting, but some do.

Thus, while there’s a lot of new information out there right now about LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, many may still be caught up on the voice acting aspect. TT Games has clearly taken in these responses, though, and despite having fully paid-for voice acting in-game, there is another option.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – Mumble Mode

Not too long ago, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally revealed a new release date and gave fans a 6-minute view of the game. This stirred up a lot of excitement for the game, and those paying attention also noticed a few new features among them, including “cheat codes” as a classic throwback. One of these features is Mumble Mode, shown off at the end of the trailer below (around the 5:45-mark).

Mumble Mode replaces the voice acting with mumbled, slurred, and otherwise distorted versions of the actual lines. The trailer uses the iconic “Luke, I am your father!” moment to showcase this feature, resulting in added hilarity as Darth Vader is obviously serious through mumbles and Luke, surprised and mumbling too, dips out quickly. Arguably, it’s not as comedic or compelling as visual gags and so on, but it’s a nice throwback for those who can appreciate the voice acting but want a more classic experience in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

At this point, it’s uncertain how or when someone can unlock Mumble Mode in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but it’s an option for those who want it. The list, from the brief moment it's seen in the trailer, contains many similar modifiers, so it’ll be interesting to see just how much players can change up the core experience. Many fans have been waiting for this game for quite a while, but at the very least, it looks like it may very well pay off.

Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases April 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
