With the highly-anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga finally having an official release date, and launching this 2022, fans are likely interested to find out what new features they should expect from the video game. In a recently released developer diary video, Traveller's Tales shared more upcoming details about The Skywalker Saga. This includes how the team was able to make accurate depictions of the in-game creatures through the use of already existing LEGO Star Wars kits.

Beyond compiling all the Star Wars films into one collection, The Skywalker Saga will also provide an updated take of the films' LEGO versions. Both fans of the movies and the video games will likely look forward to the quirky humor and fun gameplay that many have come to expect from the LEGO Star Wars titles. However, the collection brings more to the table now with more intense light saber fights and updated visuals that fit the gamer generation of today.

In the developer diary video, Head of Game Jonathan Smith shared that the team was pushed to do more because of the opportunity to tell the story of all nine Star Wars films. In constant talks with both LEGO and Lucasfilm, the devs were given access to resources in order to accurately transfer elements onto the actual game. According to Neil Crofts, Head of Character Art, the team would take a look at both existing LEGO kits and the films in order to make creatures like the Bantha true to both IPs. Though some of the creatures have not existed yet as LEGO kits, the designers made sure they used real LEGO pieces to make them look as close to reality as possible.

So much work to balance both LEGO and Star Wars IPs has been put into LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. This includes making sure that each setting and area, whether it be a spaceship hangar or the jungles of a planet will look much like their movie versions but made entirely out of LEGO bricks. The devs have also upgraded various gameplay features such as the use of The Force by both Jedi and the Sith, as well as shifting to a third-person perspective.

As the release date of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga draws near, it seems there is much about the title that the fans can be excited about. Beyond being able to experience a video game re-telling of their favorite Star Wars film, they will also be able to play through them in a fun and exciting manner.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will release on April 5, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
