LEGO is celebrating Nintendo's history with 35th-anniversary sets including an interactive Super Mario toy and a LEGO NES with Super Mario Bros. Easter eggs. However, in the realm of video games, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is in the works as a celebration of all nine mainline movies in the over 40-year-old franchise, and a leaked startup menu screen suggests developer TT Games will be leaning into that.

The menu is a supposedly animated splash screen of major characters from all three trilogies on a generic rocky terrain, but what makes it special is seeing how they intersperse: Kylo Ren stands with Boba Fett, Rose Tico and Captain Phasma are hanging out with Yoda and Lando Calrissian, and the original trilogy heroes are near the top with Rey and Mace Windu. Though Star Wars fans are often polarized by which set of movies they prefer, it is sweet to see so many iconic characters gathered together.

Of course, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as RuggedEagle — the YouTuber who publicized it — does not say how they obtained it. They do say they were hesitant to share the screenshot because of how little is known about the game, with one major detail announced being that LEGO Star Wars sets will unlock content. However, they said, "I reckon this will help promote the game and market it."

Though the amount of characters on this menu is impressive, Lucasfilm Games Managing Producer Craig Derrick said the game will feature over 500 characters in an interview published May 4, 2020 — commonly known as Star Wars day. The collection will even include deep-cut references, with characters like Yaddle being playable in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

That's not the full extent of the Star Wars fan service present in this upcoming game and the marketing surrounding it. A listing from Best Buy earlier this year included a cool pre-order bonus for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga: A Han Solo carbonate SteelBook case.

As exciting as a collection of nine LEGO Star Wars games in one package might be, especially considering some of the movies have yet to receive the LEGO video game treatment, The Skywalker Saga is a monumental achievement in terms of its legacy. The LEGO Star Wars franchise turned 15 years old in April, and its newest game looks like it will be a great way to celebrate.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to release on October 20, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
