LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has only just released, though fans had been anticipating the ultimate collection of LEGO Star Wars games for quite some time. After a few delays and a lot of hype building around the game, it is finally available for play. People buying physical copies of the game may already have enjoyed a few days of stud collecting, as some PS5 owners received LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga early.

Now, both physical and digital releases of the game are officially available. Unfortunately for players on Steam, because they were unable to pre-load the game, some may have had to wait longer to play the latest LEGO Star Wars adventure. However, just because Steam users couldn't play right away does not mean that they didn't jump into LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in huge numbers.

Just hours after the game officially launched, it became the most played title on Steam from either the LEGO or Star Wars franchise, peaking at 82,517 players in the 24 hours following release. Prior to the launch of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order was the most played Star Wars title, peaking at 46,550 following its launch in 2019. These numbers may not match Steam's most played games like DOTA 2 and CS:GO, but the numbers for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are still impressive.

These concurrent player figures are even more outstanding considering LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's competition among other LEGO titles. The most popular LEGO game on Steam prior to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, which only saw a peak player base of around 6,000. The player numbers for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga outnumber those of even the most popular LEGO title on Steam by nearly 15 times.

Being the biggest game launch among both Star Wars and LEGO titles is no mean feat, though it's clear to see why LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has become so immediately popular. Combining the nostalgic elements of traditional LEGO Star Wars titles, such as a mumble mode, with new mechanics to prove it's more than just a remake, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been met with a positive reception from fans and critics following its launch. There's a satisfying amount of content to be unpacked in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, as it contains levels from all nine major Star Wars movies.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
