Earlier today, Lucasfilm announced some brand new LEGO Star Wars sets based around a myriad of different Star Wars eras. While that's not too out of the ordinary, one of the things that's really catching the eyes of fans is the reveal that certain sets will come with a code that unlocks exclusive content in the upcoming video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The news was revealed in Lucasfilm's official announcement post for the new sets on starwars.com, which also included up close and personal looks at everything each set has to offer.

According to the post, four of the ten new sets will include unlock codes: the Razor Crest from The Mandalorian, the Resistance I-TS Transport featured in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (the Star Wars-themed land at Disneyland and Walt Disney World), the Death Star Final Duel seen at the end of Return of the Jedi, and the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calander, which features a number of different characters and vehicles from across every era, all appropriately Christmas-themed.

Lucasfilm was quick to clarify that, although most content will be available simply through playing the game, all of the aforementioned content will only be available through codes included with the sets. Unfortunately, this means that, if you want any of the content, you'll have to shell out the extra money for the sets. While this isn't exactly ideal, it's certainly not the worst system to implement extra content, especially when its compared to something like loot boxes.

It's also interesting to ponder exactly what this "content" will be, because if the only way to unlock it is through these special codes, how will it affect the story? It's hard-pressed to consider a Return of the Jedi without its final duel, for example, so it's possible that these codes unlock something else.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to release on October 20, 2020, and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.
