LEGO Star Wars is one of the most popular game collaborations that LEGO has ever produced, even though it has been a while since a new entry. However, a new announcement from Disney looks like LEGO Star Wars fans will have more to look forward to before The Skywalker Saga launches next year.

It is hard to think that LEGO Star Wars, the game series, is over 15 years old, going back to the days of the original Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. In that time, the Original Trilogy and Clone Wars eras have been covered, as well as The Force Awakens, with each game becoming more expansive and ambitious with its adaptations of the familiar Star Wars stories. For a couple of years now, fans have been anxiously awaiting LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which as the name implies, will adapt The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, while also remaking the stories that were covered in previous games.

Disney has officially unveiled LEGO Star Wars: Castaways, a new entry in the ever-popular spin-off series. LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is the series' first social action-adventure game, where "players build and customize their own in-game LEGO minifigure character," and join up with other "Castaways" to complete missions on a new planet. Players can look forward to racing signature LEGO Star Wars Microfighters as well engage in classic Star Wars moments with their friends. The game is coming exclusively to Apple Arcade on November 19, being playable on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

A major focus of Castaways is player customization. LEGO Star Wars has featured custom characters for many years, but the mode can often be overlooked by the game's glowing roster of characters. According to StarWars.com, players will "unlock hundreds of collectible pieces to customize their minifigure," as well as interact with other players in the Social Hub through LEGO emotes. It sounds like then, players will partake in memorable Star Wars moments as their own character and not as one of Star Wars' familiar ones.

This may not be a title that many were expecting, especially if they were hoping for something larger. From what Castaways sounds like, this will likely be a fun experience that younger audiences will get more out of than older ones. Interestingly, another mobile game titled LEGO Star Wars Battles was cancelled earlier this year, so one has to wonder if anything from that project was salvaged into Castaways. Between Castaways and The Skywalker Saga though, LEGO Star Wars has a bright future ahead.

LEGO Star Wars: Castaways will be released on November 19 for Apple Arcade.
