Some of the most successful Traveller's Tales LEGO games come in the form of the Lego Marvel Super Heroes series. Currently, the series is made up of two original games and one adaptation of a select few Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. These games have given players the ability to control their favorite Marvel heroes in large sandbox playgrounds. Each entry has expanded upon the last and Traveller's Tales has shown no signs that it plans to stop. While nothing has been formally announced, there is a strong possibility that another LEGO Marvel Super Heroes title is on the way.

Alongside the LEGO Marvel series, Traveller's Tales has also been making LEGO games set in the world of DC Comics. The LEGO Batman series has actually been running longer than the Marvel one, as the first game in the series came out in 2008. The series has seen three LEGO Batman games, a major role in LEGO Dimensions, and has most recently gotten a spin-off focused entirely on the DC villains. DC fans have been having a lot of fun with these games, and the spin-off took the franchise in a brand-new direction. LEGO DC Super-Villains was such a fun time that Traveller's Tales should repeat it with the Marvel characters.

LEGO DC Super-Villains Was A Very Different LEGO Game

LEGO DC Super-Villains came out in 2018 and served as a villain-focused title in the DC universe. The story sees the Justice League vanish and get replaced by a group of villains known as the Justice Syndicate. Some of the most iconic DC villains are forced to band together to defeat this Justice Syndicate and save the Justice League. Players are given control of all sorts of villains and given free rein of two of the most popular DC cities: Gotham City and Metropolis. The story was a pretty standard superhero tale, but the game had a unique twist that has not been emulated by another LEGO game yet.

Unlike past LEGO games, LEGO DC Super-Villains put the player at the center. The story had the player create their own custom LEGO character known as the Rookie, and they became the center point of the story. They would gather powers throughout the game and work alongside the other villains to save the day. In the past, LEGO games have let players make their own characters, but those characters have always been relegated to free-play mode. Now, the character was actually a character, and it represented the player inside this DC Comics world.

LEGO Marvel Super-Villains Could be Perfect

One of the things that most comic book fans want to do is to actually live in the worlds they love so much. While it was not the most realistic or immersive DC Comics world, LEGO DC Super-Villains did let the player play a pivotal role in the story. They could create their character exactly how they wanted and then help save the world from whatever wants to do it harm. It is one of the few video games to actually let players exist in these universes, and that is what made it special. It was so special that Traveller's Tales should let Marvel fans have the same exact experience.

Not only should Traveller's Tales make a LEGO Marvel game that puts the player at the center, but it should also make a villain-focused title in the universe. DC is not the only franchise with some iconic villains, and Marvel's villains have only gotten more popular because of the MCU. Giving players the ability to control their own character alongside the likes of Loki, Green Goblin, Magneto, and Thanos would be a lot of fun. LEGO DC Super-Villains showed that a villain-centric LEGO game works, and now it is time for Marvel to have a shot.

Traveller's Tales has been delivering some pretty fun superhero LEGO games over the years, and now it is time for the studio to deliver more supervillain titles. LEGO DC Super-Villains was special and is currently the only LEGO game to make the player character the focus. While a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 3 is far more likely, the studio should really consider giving Marvel fans the same experience.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
