Over the years, Traveller's Tales has shown that it knows how to tell exciting superhero stories using LEGOs. The studio has crafted games following Batman, the Justice League, DC supervillains, the entire Marvel lineup, and even the MCU. Each of these games were a treat to superhero fans, and Traveller's Tales' ability to make great LEGO games has only gotten better. Now, the studio is hard at work on the next LEGO game after LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga; and fans are waiting in anticipation.

One thing that is often requested of Traveller's Tales is another game based on Marvel superheroes. This could either come in the form of a LEGO Marvel Superheroes 3 or another MCU game. Both those games have the potential to be a lot of fun, but maybe Traveller's Tales should try its hand at crafting a Marvel spin-off game instead. Specifically, the studio should consider making a new LEGO game solely focused on the X-Men. The team played a role in LEGO Marvel Superheroes, but a full-fledged LEGO game based on them could truly do the team justice. It would also come at the perfect time as the MCU prepares to introduce the mutants into the franchise thanks to the Disney and Fox merger.

Traveller's Tales Knows How to Tell a Superhero Story

Traveller's Tales began its journey into the world of comic books back in 2008 with LEGO Batman: The Videogame. Since then, the studio has been consistently releasing superhero-based LEGO titles alongside its movie adaptations. The LEGO Batman series has expanded to encompass three mainline games and a spin-off focused on DC supervillains. In 2013, the studio dipped its toes in the Marvel landscape with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and it may be one of the best superhero games around. The LEGO Marvel brand has grown to include two mainline games and one MCU adaptation, and it could grow even larger with the X-Men.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes included the X-Men as major characters, but the sequel removed them from the story. Players got to play as some of the most iconic X-Men like Wolverine, Professor X, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. The storyline saw various X-Men villains like Mystique and Magneto teaming up with other villains from across Marvel Comics. As of now, this game is one of the best ways to experience the X-Men alongside the other Marvel superhero teams.

LEGO X-Men Would Make a Great Spin-off Game

The X-Men were absent from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 due to various behind the scenes issues between Fox and Marvel Studios. However, that is no longer the case as Marvel Studios and Fox are now under the same roof. This means that the studio can now play around with the X-Men characters, and that most likely means that Traveller's Tales would get to play with them as well. While a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 3 may likely be the next step for the LEGO Marvel games, Traveller's Tales should consider crafting a LEGO X-Men spin-off game.

The X-Men are one of the most interesting teams in Marvel Comics, and they have led to some of the best comic book films like Logan and X2: X-Men United. The team is filled with some of the most popular superheroes and a game focused on them could do the team justice. Having them as characters in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was fun, but a LEGO game focused on them would let Traveller's Tales show the inner workings of the team better. The game could also deal with the deeper conflicts of the Brotherhood versus the X-Men, as their conflict runs deeper than just good versus evil.

A LEGO X-Men game could take Marvel fans back to New York City after LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 brought them to Kang's world. This New York City could be loosely connected to the previous LEGO Marvel games, which would help explain the absence of some of the other superhero teams. The player could take control of iconic X-Men heroes throughout the story, or it could follow LEGO DC Super-Villains lead and put the player-character at the center of the story. It might even let them construct their own mutant who is given the choice of the Brotherhood or the X-Men after an exciting story about the mutants battling it out in New York City.

The X-Men were absent from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, and a spin-off game focused solely on the team could help alleviate that omission. The team is expansive, and the stories told with them are intriguing, and that leaves a lot of material for Traveller's Tales to work with. The studio has shown time and time again that it knows how to make a LEGO Game focused on superheroes, and it should be given the chance to tell a fantastic X-Men tale.
