About a week ago, TT Games teased the forthcoming announcement related to a LEGO-branded project that would feature DC Comics' stable of villains as the main feature of a game based in the world based on the popular line line of plastic construction toys. Now, the developer WB Games has teamed up with the publisher to officially declare the launch of LEGO DC Super-Villains will be coming on October 16, 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

As seen below in the reveal trailer for LEGO DC Super-Villains, the game will give players the chance to play as various DC Comics antagonists throughout a story that's "set in an expansive, open world experience within the DC Universe." According to the title's description, "the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to their counterparts from a parallel universe, who have proclaimed themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’."

Those who have kept up with the comics will likely notice LEGO DC Super-Villains' plot as being reminiscent of the storyline from writer Geoff Johns and artist David Finch's "Forever Evil" run. During the miniseries, the aforementioned Justice Syndicate shows from an alternate realm as an evil version of the Justice League, which forces the Lex Luthor-led Injustice League into action to face the extradimensional baddies.

As seen in the trailer, it looks as if LEGO DC Super-Villains will let fans play as a wide range of DC Comics' most iconic baddies, with the likes of The Joker, Harley Quinn, Reverse-Flash, Poison Ivy, and Lex Luthor being represented in the game's reveal. WB Games and TT Games also state that "Deathstroke, Killer Frost, Sinestro, and countless others from the Injustice League" will make appearances in the forthcoming title.

All things considered, LEGO DC Super-Villains should provide a good deal of fun for those looking to behave mischievously within the title's block-based world, as the companies behind the title have put out a slew of solid releases prior to this related to the comic book medium. After all, LEGO Marvel Super-Heroes 2 received decent reviews and was met with a somewhat positive reception from both critics and fans alike.

LEGO DC Super-Villains is set to launch on October 16, 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
