The release date for the puzzle-adventure game LEGO Bricktales has now been announced. Revealed in March, LEGO Bricktales is the next project looking to mix LEGO brick building with inventive new storytelling mechanics. In LEGO Bricktales, players will be exploring five different unique biomes, all made of LEGO, and using LEGO constructions of their own making to progress. LEGO fans won't have to wait long, either, as LEGO Bricktales' release date is surprisingly near.

The adventure-puzzle game remains in active development by studio ClockStone, known for its work on Bridge Constructor. Bridge Constructor was released back in 2013 and ClockStone has spent the years since developing near-annual DLC releases for it, including major licensing tie-ins with Valve's Portal and The Walking Dead. ClockStone's moving on to an exciting LEGO project now with a lot of potential that builds on the studio's experience with physics and construction game mechanics.

As for when LEGO fans can get their hands on LEGO Bricktales, publisher Thunderful has confirmed that the puzzle-adventure game will be arriving on October 12. In less than a month, LEGO fans will be able to pick up and play LEGO Bricktales across all major platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Those interested in trying LEGO Bricktales before October 12 arrives can download a demo now.

LEGO Bricktales will feature five different biomes, as previously noted. Within these biomes, players will be able to complete a variety of puzzles, as well as collect "heaps" of items and unlocks. That includes new cosmetics for players' LEGO minifigs as well as new brick color sets that can be used in LEGO Bricktales' Sandbox mode. The Sandbox for each area is unlocked after completing a construction spot, where players build LEGO devices to complete puzzles.

When looking at LEGO Bricktales, some may associate it with 2019's LEGO Builder's Journey. That also allowed players to make LEGO constructions in-game while completing a unique story. There doesn't appear to be any connection between the two projects, however, and LEGO Bricktales appears to have a much bigger scope for building and storytelling.

Overall, the more LEGO games that offer up a digital LEGO-building experience is likely a good thing. There's a reason why creative games like Minecraft and Terraria have been so successful. LEGO Bricktales, like LEGO Builder's Journey, are small projects comparatively, but offer up exciting ideas. LEGO fans will be able to see exactly whether LEGO Bricktales lives up to expectations soon.

LEGO Bricktales releases October 12 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
