Recently, a leak revealed that Palkia and Dialga were going to be made available for gamers who owned Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon via GameStop distribution. It has since been confirmed as part of the Pokémon Company’s Year of Legendary Pokémon event.

After the legendary Palkia and Dialga are introduced into the aforementioned Pokemon games in February, Regigigas and Heatran will be made available in March; then, Entei and Raikou will be distributed in April, followed by Xerneas and Yveltal in May. Zygarde will follow its counterparts in June, with Tornadus and Thundurus appearing in July. Groudon and Kyogre are set to follow in August, Latias and Latios in September, Reshiram and Zekrom in October, and finally Ho-Oh and Lugia in November.

What is noteworthy about this line-up is that there is no Legendary Pokémon listed for December, leading many fans to believe it could be a brand-new release as hinted by a recent Nintendo Switch Survey. Moreover, the event also promises new TCG items “and MORE,” perhaps also hinting at the release of a new game. Check out the official announcement here:

While these subtle hints seem to suggest a new generation of Pokémon releasing in 2018, there is nothing known at this time. The recent speculation and trademark that seemed to suggest the newest titles were going to be Pokémon 1 and Pokémonhas been proven to be a fake; if anything, however, this stunt just proves how badly the fanbase desires a new Pokémon game.

Since 2018 will be the Year of Legendary Pokémon, it will also hopefully introduce new legendaries, but if it does not (or the wait seems unbearable), there is plenty of Pokémon-related games out there. Pokkén Tournament DX recently released, and Niantic recently made the legendary Kyogre available for raids in Pokémon GO. Mark your calendars, trainers, because 2018 may be a fantastic year for the franchise.

Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon are available now exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
