The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an open-world RPG that requires players to scour the world for unique and powerful weapons to fight the arch-villain Ganondorf. Traditionally, our hero Link uses The Master Sword. While it's certainly available in-game, players must find other means to defend themselves before obtaining it. Even then, The Master Sword itself is not the best weapon players can collect.

The game hosts a wide variety of options and often the most powerful weapons require slaying large creatures, completing quests, or scanning amiibos. One of the most noteworthy weapons is the Ceremonial Trident. There's only one in-game and Link needs several items and abilities to obtain it.

10 Upgraded Master Sword

Link with Upgraded Master Sword

It's not a true Legend of Zelda game without The Master Sword. Breath of the Wild tries a different approach, however. The game doesn't offer Link's iconic sword in the beginning. Only experienced players with at least 13 hearts of health may attempt the challenge to take the sword.

Once Link has access to the Master Trials DLC, he must make his way back to Korok Forest, where his adventure with the sword began. This trial strips away all of Link's weapons, armor, material, and food. Upon completion, The Master Sword awakens, allowing it to remain fully charged at all times. With an awakened Master Sword, the new Master Mode gets much less terrifying.

9 Biggoron's Sword

Fans of the Legend of Zelda series may recognize Biggoron's Sword from its many appearances throughout the franchise. It's a two-handed weapon which means that while it's equipped, Link cannot use his shield. In Ocarina of Time, part of the myth of Biggoron's Sword was that it couldn't break.

This is no longer the case in Breath of the Wild. It has a base attack power of 50 and will, in fact, break after burning through its durability rating of 60. Biggoron's Sword is inaccessible in the base game and requires the use of an amiibo.

They're also disguised as Hylian travelers throughout the world. Speak with these odd travelers and they may recognize Link as an enemy of Ganondorf, resulting in a fight.
