Link will begin the first step of the side quest at the entrance to the North Lomei Labyrinth, which is located in the northeastern corner of Hebra at -0958, 3534, 0234 in the Tabantha Tundra. Players that have visited the Oshozan-u Shrine can fast travel to its location and walk eastward.

At the entrance to the labyrinth, players will find a stone tablet written in the Zonai language. A researcher has previously visited the labyrinth and left behind a series of notebooks throughout the maze. The first is found underneath the tent to the tablet's left and translates the stone tablet and its message: players seeking valuable compensation should venture into the labyrinth and complete its challenge.

The researcher has left a trail of Hylian Pine Cones to mark their way through the labyrinth's many passageways. Players can toss one of these pine cones into a fire to vastly increase its burn and create a strong updraft. They can use this mechanic to cross over large areas of Gloom on the ground. They also have the option to simply run through the Gloom as the Gloom Damage quickly disperses while Link is on the surface.

Players can easily create a fire by dropping Wood and Flint on the ground and striking the Flint with a weapon.

Players are able to follow the researcher's trail of pine cones directly to the end of the labyrinth as shown by the map above. Temperatures will be low, so players should make sure to increase Link's resistance to the cold before they enter.

Although quicker routes do exist, going off the marked path can run players into a Gloom Spawn roaming about. There are also chests and hidden Zonai weapons down some of the branching paths if players are brave enough to explore them.

At the end of the researcher's path, players will find themselves in a central chamber containing the Mayaotaki Shrine and a stone Zonai terminal that will light up as they approach. A secret chest accessible by a small hole in the ceiling contains a Big Battery for players to claim as well.

Activating the terminal will begin the side quest "The North Lomei Prophecy" in the player's Adventure Log and a mysterious voice will direct Link toward the labyrinth floating directly overhead.

If players are able to reach the roof of the North Lomei Labyrinth, they may alternatively make their way toward the coordinates -0766, 3521, 0234. From above, Link can drop to the corridor below marked with a star on the map above and find the tail end of the researcher's pine cone trail.

Following completion of the North Lomei Labyrinth, Link is told to travel to its upper section: the North Lomei Castle Top Floor located in the sky at around -0956, 3535, 1011.

Players can reach the North Lomei Castle Top Floor by using either the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower or the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower to launch into the sky.

There is a good bit of distance between the labyrinth and the towers, so players should either pack plenty of Stamina Elixirs or build a flying machine to help them reach it.

If they land on the roof of the labyrinth, players should make their way to the entrance on the west side of North Lomei Castle Top Floor, where they will find the Tenbez Shrine and another large Zonai terminal.

Even if they enter a different way, players cannot do anything on the North Lomei Castle Top Floor until they activate the terminal near the shrine outside.

After doing so, the mysterious voice will instruct Link to activate four other terminals within the labyrinth and the door in front of him will open.

The North Lomei Castle Top Floor has no floor beneath it, but it also has extremely low gravity and a consistent updraft for Link to glide upon. Players should proceed forward to find the first terminal behind a grated wall. It can be reached by following the corridors on either side around to stairs leading into the chamber.

With the first terminal activated, players can use the map above to venture to three other terminals located in the labyrinth's other three corners. The paths to each of the terminals are highlighted in different colors on the map above.

Alternatively, with the low gravity of the labyrinth, players can use a Zonai Spring or a fire's updraft to get above the maze. They can then travel to each of the corners and drop down to the terminal from above. For players with little stamina or less confidence maneuvering the passageways with their glider, this may be the preferred method.

Once all four terminals have been activated, a new terminal will appear on the roof of the labyrinth, and the gusts of wind will blow harder, allowing Link to glide directly up to the top with no other assistance.

Activating the new terminal will have the voice speak to Link once more, asking that he show courage and leap straight down into the labyrinth in The Depths from where he stands.

Players will be prompted to jump from the provided ledge and dive through a door in the North Lomei Labyrinth that has now opened to the chasm below.

The final length of their descent into the North Lomei Depths Labyrinth will be quite dark, so players may want to have some Brightblooms at the ready to avoid crashing into the ground.

Each of the corridors presented to Link after touching down leads to the same place, so players should pick one and follow it to a Flux Construct III waiting to battle.

If players prove victorious in their battle, a terminal against the wall will light up, and players can activate it to raise a hidden chest from the floor.

The mysterious ruler of owls will reward Link with the Evil Spirit Greaves for his triumphs in the three labyrinths, thus completing the side quest. Before they leave the North Lomei Depths Labyrinth, players can find a number of Poes and Zonai weapons down several of the corridors.

To round out the adventure, players can use Ascend or climb on top of the labyrinth itself to activate the Ikatoayam Lightroot and light up the surrounding area of The Depths.

What Do the Evil Spirit Greaves Do?

This leg armor is one of three pieces that make up the Evil Spirit Armor Set, which is based on Phantom Ganon's appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. On its own, it provides one level to Link's overall stealth, but when paired with the other two pieces of the set, Link gains a disguise against most Stal enemies and proficiency with any bone weapons that he may find.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
