The Nintendo 3DS is coming within the next few months and anticipation is at fever pitch. The only thing about the handheld that doesn't have people excited is the rumored $300 price tag, but Nintendo may have an idea that will give gamers a little more bang for their buck. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is likely highly anticipated title for those planning on buying a 3DS. Considering that, there is certainly reason to be excited by a fresh rumor claiming that the 3DS will come packaged with the 3D remake of the N64 classic.
This rumor comes from an alleged reader on a 3DS Blog who claims that they went to pre-order the 3DS at GameStop (as previously reported). While doing so he asked which games were available to pre-order and the GameStop employees read a list of 3DS games. None seemed that shocking, but what apparently caught this individual's attention was when the employee mentioned that the 3DS was set to come packaged with the Ocarina of Time. He allegedly questioned the associate about this who then double checked with the other employee. This GameStop laborer then confirmed that, “some Zelda game is to be bundled with it.”
Don't get too excited though readers, because this could be completely falsified, or the employees could be horrifically misinformed. Why would Nintendo bundle a game that would likely sell extremely well by itself without being a pack-in? Odds are they wouldn't. There are a ton of other games that Nintendo could make a pack-in, and Ocarina of Time doesn't seem likely to fit the bill.
This seems highly unlikely, but that's not to say that it's completely out of the question. Nintendo did get some serious heat from the press for the 3DS's $300 price tag, and the system's price does seem a little more justified if it comes with a Triple A title such as Ocarina of Time. The game wouldn't have been as expensive to create as others either because it's a remake, and that's why Nintendo would have less of a problem packaging the 3DS with Ocarina compared to something they've built from the ground up (i.e. Kid Icarus: Uprising).
Nintendo has been known to do some crazy things before, and while there's no guarantee that Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is coming with their unit it certainly seems possible. Looks like we'll have to wait for some more news form Nintendo, and with Nintendo World beginning January 8th the wait shouldn't be too long at all.
