For those that enjoy mixing their gaming mediums, The Legend of Zelda is getting another board game treatment. This time it will be with the classic mystery game Clue. The online gaming merchant Merchoid is selling The Legend of Zelda Clue Board Game, which puts a nerdy twist on the well-known party game.

The board, game pieces, and characters have all been transformed into familiar elements from The Legend of Zelda series, but the mystery that is the heart of the game has been tweaked to fit the theme. The core of the game itself remains the same, but the who, what, and where have different meanings than their source material.

This time the who refers to the character that has the power to defeat Ganondorf, which means Link isn't the only hero this time. The what is the item used to defeat him, and the where is the location of his hidden lair – although that's all too often Hyrule Castle in the games. The wrench, rope, and other classic teeny tiny murder weapons from the original are now some of the most famous weapons from The Legend of Zelda series.

The entire set includes:

  • Custom Game Board
  • 6 Metal Hero Movers (weapons): Master Sword, Fairy Bow, Megaton Hammer, Boomerang, Hookshot, Bombchu
  • 6 Personality Cards: Link, Impa, Nabooru, Zelda, Rauru. Darunia
  • 16 Boss Encounter Cards
  • Custom Score Pad
  • Custom Mystery Envelope
  • 2 Dice
  • Instructions

The Legend of Zelda Clue Board Game will set you back $44.99 and will begin shipping June 30, 2017, but only to customers in the US only. It's available for pre-order now, but supplies are limited.

This isn't the first time a video game, let alone a Nintendo title, has inspired a board game version of itself. Super Mario has been a chess set, among many others, and the world of Hyrule became real estate with the release of The Legend of Zelda version of Monopoly a few years back.

And speaking of The Legend of Zelda in other mediums, Big Bad Toy Store has created an incredible gorgeous and detailed Link figure from Breath of the Wild. It's hard not to be in awe of it, before getting a glimpse at the staggering $335 price tag.

Another talented creator was working hard on a classic, 2D remake of Breath of the Wild inspired Nintendo's own prototype of the game, but it has since been served with a copyright takedown notice. The creator assures fans of the project that it will live on as an entity separate of its source material to avoid further legal troubles.

The Legend of Zelda Clue board game is set to release on June 30, 2017.
