Much can be said about the thrill surrounding nostalgic adventures of the past, and what older games have to provide for most players during a trip through familiar puzzles and battles. From lengthier open-world games to smaller side-scrollers, there are many games out there that fans wish for remasters of, even if it’s been decades since the initial release. The Legend of Dragoon is one such game, falling into the RPG category with an impressive 48+ hour run-through time, released for the PS1 in December of 1999, and fans have been hoping for a Legend of Dragoon remake for years. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, Shuhei Yoshida of Sony has retweeted an anniversary tweet from one of the original composers, Dennis Martin.RELATED: Legend of Dragoon Remade Using RPG Maker and It's IncredibleThe original tweet had been posted December 3rd 2019, and was full of kind words towards the team Martin had worked with, explaining that he had enjoyed working on the score, and that he still thinks back on his involvement, ending the tweet by thanking everyone for the well-wishes that had been sent his way for the anniversary of the game. Yoshida’s retweet comes three years later on August 7th with no added commentary, though The Legend of Dragoon has seen love from creators and fans alike for a long while. There have been many instances where a remake has been rumored from Sony and Bluepoint Games, and there is also a petition to have Legend of Dragoon remade circulating as well.

Armed with a four-disc-long storyline, characters with engrossing backstories, and plenty of ways to personalize the playthrough experience including the unique attack combinations possible, The Legend of Dragoon has enough to offer in terms of content. That being said, it’s one of the various PlayStation games that has not seen a sequel despite ticking quite a few of the same boxes as other remakes from Bluepoint Games, such as Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

With this tweet comes another round of hopeful speculation regarding a remake, though at this period in time any news regarding The Legend of Dragoon is good news, even if it’s just a new way to play the original game since playability is currently limited. Even if Yoshida is only looking to keep the awareness of fans heightened, that can definitely be seen as an act of love towards a wonderful and immersive game that deserves recognition.

The Legend of Dragoon is available to play on PS1, PS3 and PS Vita.
