It was confirmed some time ago by Valve's Doug Lombardi that the first downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2, entitled "The Passing" would be extremely important to the overall story of our favorite multiplayer zombocalypse, and that it would in some way have the cast cross paths with the four Survivors from the original Left 4 Dead; Francis, Zoe, Bill and Louis.

Quoth Mr. Lombardi:

"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign. It will also be a huge offering of new game play content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

The Passing will be set immediately following the events of the Dead Center campaign, and will take place in rural Georgia.

Since that initial announcement we haven't really had much to go on, especially with regards to the original Survivors and the extent of their involvement. But behold, we now have our hands on the official Grind house-style movie poster that will accompany the campaign.

Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room. Over to the right of the Left 4 Dead 2 cast are the original four Survivors from the first game, albeit in silhouette form. The second issue of note is that it appears to be set at night, which is a departure from the daylight campaigns of the sequel, but more in-keeping with the original game's vibe. Thirdly, there is no cheesy movie slogan. No, "They're gonna give dying a PASS!" or anything like that.

It is still unclear what the fate of the original Survivors will be, but I for one am excited to see Bill's grumpy, bearded face again. Look for The Passing to arrive in March.
