Have you been looking for an excuse to dust off that rusty old chainsaw and battle your way through hordes of zombies? Then gas that thing up, because Valve has announced a chance to take a trip down memory lane with the newest DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2.
The new content will feature the three remaining campaigns from Left 4 Dead that have yet to be ported over to the new game, as well as a new community created campaign called Cold Stream. The campaign is being designed by Matthew Lourdelet, the creator of the first L4D2 feature campaign, 2 Evil Eyes.
Unlike the most recent content released for Left 4 Dead 2, The Passing and The Sacrifice, there will be no story arc in this DLC. The Passing and The Sacrifice focused heavily on the stories of the survivors of both Left 4 Dead 2 and Left 4 Dead.
The community campaign will be live in the next few weeks as a “work in-progress” type map. There will be an open forum for players to make suggestions for the map as it comes along in its development. Seeing as there will be no new story or audio, Valve is encouraging gamers to contribute to the open forum.
Valve announced that they will be releasing the ported content from Left 4 Dead not long after the release of Portal 2 on April 20. There is no set release date because they don’t want to rush the content out. In typical Valve style, it’ll be ready for release when it’s done. Leave it at that. No pricing info has been revealed but if they’re maps from the first game and a community-made one… we hope it’s free.
Will you contribute to the community campaign? And are you happy to see the final three original campaigns brought to L4D2?
The new DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 is expected to release in the Spring for PC, Mac, and Xbox 360.
