It's been a long time coming, but finally word has come straight from the horse's mouth that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development at Rockstar. Admittedly, many had already speculated that this was the case anyway, but it's good to have it officially confirmed by the studio itself. With an insider believing the next game could be called GTA Vice, speculations have been inbound, with more imminent, no doubt. With that in mind, there has been a recent leak which suggests that a gameplay trailer could be made public sometime this year, based on past experiences.

According to a recent report from NME, which cites a tweet from leaker Tez2, it's possible that Rockstar could unveil footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 before the end of 2022. Details are, as one can imagine, scarce, but this wouldn't be the first time that the studio has announced a new game and then unveiled a trailer soon afterwards.

Back in 2016, Rockstar released a trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, and further still, in 2011, the developer announced GTA 5, and sure enough there was some footage of it uploaded in October of that year. Given this track record, it's entirely possible that GTA 6 could have a trailer of its own shown off in the not too distant future. However, if this is to be the case, fans can expect to wait until at least the latter parts of 2022 before anything substantial gets uploaded, but it's exciting all the same.

That is, of course, if the leak is to be believed. It's worth bearing in mind that this has not been confirmed by official parties involved in the game's development, at the time of writing. GTA 6 leaks have been around for some time now, and there are instances in which insiders, or those who seem to possess knowledge that most are not privy to, can get it right. But it's worth pointing out that this is just a rumor, and readers should take what's been said with a pinch of salt.

As one of the biggest video game franchises of all time, it's only natural that fans will be willing to grab onto any leaks that they can. The fact that GTA 6 has finally been confirmed is pretty big news, but it's best to wait to hear what Take-Two or Rockstar say before people hold their breath. But still, with a supposed release date of 2023 at the earliest, it would make sense to get a trailer out sooner rather than later.
