There is perhaps nothing more exciting than a leaked image or some information that has slipped through the cracks and found its way to the general public. Hardware companies such as Nvidia and AMD often have details and pictures about upcoming products leaked ahead of official announcements. In mid-May, the latter's 6600 XT GPU had its specs unveiled through screenshots, and now it looks as though some images have come through as well.

According to a source, a potential press photo for the upcoming AMD 6600 XT has been leaked by a user which shows the graphics card as a rendered image. Despite there being no details from the company as of yet, an analysis of the image indicates that it could be legitimate, particularly as it looks similar to an image already shown at this year's CES event which was presented by AMD.

Like its rival Nvidia, AMD has been hard at work releasing new products to the market, despite the shortages that have been ongoing since last year. While Nvidia announced recently that it would be upping production of its RTX 3060, AMD launched three Navi 23 cards in the 6600 range, including the Radeon Pro W6600. Even with the ongoing deficit, both companies seem to be thriving, as a recent report showed that sales were up 35% for Q1 2021.

The shortages that have been plaguing the video game industry and the surrounding communities have been felt on a global scale. While there are no certainties as to when the market will begin to show significant improvement, there is some evidence to suggest that prices are beginning to drop in some parts of the world and availability is beginning to increase. In May, AMD's own CEO spoke about her positivity, saying that hardware could become readily available again soon.

With the leaked render doing the rounds on some of the major tech websites, it's only a matter of time before the company makes a statement. However, it's important to say at this stage that there have been no official words on whether the image is from a press release, even if the source does indicate that it looks authentic. As both companies begin to put out new products, and contemplate re-releasing older cards, such as MSI bringing back its 7-year-old GT 730, there is no way to tell what's going to happen in terms of shortages within the coming weeks and months. However, the prospect of a new AMD graphics card being officially announced is bound to peak many PC gamer's interest.
