AMD and Nvidia are bitter rivals in the graphics card market, each trying to remain ahead of the competition, especially as the next generation looms ahead. With team green already rumored to be preparing five RTX 40-series GPUs in its Ada Lovelace range, team red is probably going to want to make sure that it doesn't get left behind with its own RDNA 3 architecture. However, before that, there's still a bit of time to get some more hardware out in this generation, and it looks as though Lisa Su and co may be launching some more RX cards soon.
According to a recent leak, there's a chance that AMD may be about to release some new Ryzen 5000/4000 CPUs, as well some products in its Radeon graphics card lineup, which could be out as early as spring. More specifically, the company could be unveiling a 6950 XT, 6750 XT, and a 6400. Obviously, these are just rumors at the moment, but they could be one last ditch attempt for the tech giant to squeeze some more RDNA 2 products out before the industry moves forward.
If true, these latest developments will align with recent speculations that AMD could be releasing three more high-end GPUs before this generation is done. With Nvidia also about to launch its powerful RTX 3090 Ti, and with Intel due to release its own range of discreet cards in the Arc range, it's clear that the market is about to become extremely competitive, with all three companies looking to catch the attention of consumers, even during this difficult period of shortages.
While graphics cards are starting to come down in price, they are still above their MSRPs and the ongoing deficit has made it difficult for gamers and PC enthusiasts to acquire new hardware without paying way over the odds. It's unsure exactly what the market will look like in the coming months, but it seems clear that these tech conglomerates are keen to keep pushing products out.
There will hopefully be more updates on what AMD is planning on doing, if indeed it is preparing to launch three more RDNA 2 cards. With RDNA 3 coming later this year, and Nvidia expected to launch its 40-series this September, it feels like the race is on as each company continues to lock horns. Maybe the launch of some more GPUs in this generation may actually help to keep current prices down, but that remains to be seen at this stage.
