Season 11 officially begins today and Riot Games has released a video of the new League of Legends content coming throughout 2021. Though players were expecting many improvements to ranked and events, this morning's biggest announcement was the next champion joining the roster. While fans got a brief glimpse of him months ago, it's the veterans of multiple seasons who will recognize one of Runeterra's most lore-heavy characters finally being added in-game.

Viego, the Ruined King, was directly responsible for the cataclysmic event that created the Shadow Isles and its undead champions. While his blade was added as an item in Season 3 and lore has explained his actions to revive his wife at any cost, the mysterious figure went unseen for many years until his cameo at the end of Ruined King's story trailer. Now players know he will primarily be a jungler and brings along many deathly powers.

Viego's passive is Sovereign's Domination which lets him possess enemy champions that he gets a takedown on. This causes him to heal for a portion of their max health, gives him a free cast of his ultimate, and most importantly letting him use their items, attacks, and basic abilities.

His Q, Blade of the Ruined King, passively deals a percent of current health on auto attacks while the active damages all enemies in a line. W, Spectral Maw, causes Viego to dash and stun the first enemy hit depending on how long the ability was charged. Harrowed Path is Viego's E which creates a zone near a wall that grants attack and movement speed while also camouflaging him. Finally, Heartbreaker is Viego's ultimate which makes him leap out of his currently possessed body, attack the lowest percent health enemy with bonus execute damage, and knock away all nearby enemies.

Viego's kit seems perfect for League of Legends players that want to get the jump on unsuspecting foes and wreak havoc in teamfights. Anyone eager to try out the Ruined King can do it soon on PBE, but it won't be long until Viego himself arrives on live servers by the end of January.

League of Legends is available on PC.
