Tuesday's Riot Forge Showcase featured new information on a plethora of games deriving from Riot Games' popular League of Legends universe. Between highly-anticipated titles like Convergence and Hextech Mayhem and the announcement of the long-awaited release of Ruined King, several games set within the world of Runeterra were shown off during the 20-minute broadcast. Among the games covered was a brand new entry focusing on one of League's original characters, Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story.

Riot Forge was founded by the League of Legends developers as a publisher program to allow third-party developers to make new games within the League of Legends universe. With Riot working to expand the universe of the successful MOBA through its own releases like Legends of Runeterra and the currently-airing Netflix series Arcane, Riot Forge looked to provide more opportunities for unique stories by allowing non-Riot developers to bring their own spin on the game's iconic characters. Now, Song of Nunu will follow the young Notai boy Nunu and his yeti Willump on a quest to find his mother.

Song of Nunu is being developed by Spanish studio Tequila Works, previously known for their work on games like 2012's Deadlight and 2017's Rime. The game will be a narrative adventure game as Nunu and Willump traverse the frozen mountains and canyons of the Freljord using Nunu's magical flute to solve a variety of elemental puzzles. The trailer features several different game elements from using Nunu's flute to create ice bridges across lakes, climbing up frozen waterfalls, and even a tease of combat with one of the Freljordian queens, Lissandra.

While a specific release date wasn't confirmed alongside the game's announcement, Song of Nunu's first trailer did confirm the game is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2022. One of Riot Forge's initial games, Convergence, was similarly announced to be releasing during 2022 during the broadcast and the other, Ruined King, was surprise launched on all platforms shortly following the broadcast. Riot Forge also announced the official release of Hextech Mayhem during the broadcast.

The slew of announcements during the Tuesday morning broadcast was just the most recent in Riot's concerted efforts to bring the League of Legends universe to even more fans. The first fully animated League of Legends series, Arcane, has been a massive success for the California-based developer, topping Netflix charts worldwide, and Riot's promotions has seen League of Legends characters added to several games including Fortnite, PUBG, and most recently Among Us. Song of Nunu looks to serve as another entry that will deepen the stories of the world of Runeterra even more.

Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story is scheduled to release in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
