Over the last couple of years, Fortnite has been all about the collaborations, with Epic Games teaming up with many of gaming and entertainment's top IPs and celebrities. Past collaborations have included partnerships with Marvel, DC, Capcom, Sony, and Microsoft, as well as celebrities and influencers such as LeBron James, Drake, and Ninja.

During the current Fortnite season, Chapter 2 Season 8, there have already been numerous collaborations including a new Batman skin, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, and characters from the new Dune movie coming to the game. Now, Epic Games is set to team up with Riot Games to bring a popular character from League of Legends to Fortnite.

To help promote the new League of Legends Netflix TV series Arcane, Epic Games and Riot Games have teamed up to bring Jinx to the game. Jinx will be a main character in Arcane and will be voiced by Ella Purnell, who is best known for playing Dolce in Kick-Ass 2 and voicing Gwyn in Star Trek: Prodigy. Joining Jinx in the animated Netflix show will be other League of Legends Champions including Caitlyn, Jayce, Vi, and Viktor.

Arcane has been financed by Riot Games to allow the company to keep creative freedom and create the show that it wants, expanding the universe and characters that players have become attached to over the years. The series will feature three episodes that will be released on November 6, November 13, and November 20, 2021.

Fortnite and League of Legends are two of the biggest games in the world today, with millions of players jumping into both games every day. This collaboration marks the first time that Epic Games has collaborated with another esports-focused competitive game. Both games regularly trade viewership numbers on streaming platforms such as Twitch, and despite being different genres, are competitors with each other.

Collaborations are a really fun part of Fortnite, with them being an opportunity for players to use their favorite characters from other franchises in the game such as the many Marvel characters that are in the game, which helps increase sales of the cosmetics, as well as bring new attention to the franchises with new players being exposed to the characters for the first time. In early 2020, Epic Games' founder Tim Sweeney did hint that he sees Fortnite becoming more than just a game, with it becoming its own entertainment platform. This has been seen with Party Royale, which has seen movie trailers be released on it as well as screenings of full movies and live concerts too.

Fortnite is available now on PC via Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
