One of the most exciting elements of heading into a new season, regardless of the sport, is taking a look at the new teams and rosters. This is no different for League of Legends, one of the most exciting games on the Esports scene.

The 2023 LoL Esports season will see old rosters return for revenge, super teams created for international success, and squads of fresh rookies ready to prove their worth. For some teams, 2023 is about finding success for the first time. For others, it is about cementing a legacy. From up-and-comers to established names, these teams are the ones to watch.

Unfortunately, it is rare in professional League of Legends to see a team stick with the same five players heading into a new season, especially after failing to win it all. After losing consecutive international finals 3-2 in a heart-wrenching 2022, it is fantastic to see that the T1 management team still has faith in their incredible young roster, led by the irreplaceable Faker.

The mechanics and team play showcased by T1 in 2022 whet the appetite for what could come in the 2023 LCK season and beyond. Many eyes will be on top laner Zeus, who in his rookie season was able to establish himself as one of the best, if not the best, in his role.

After a failed European super team in 2022, Vitality are at it again with roster shenanigans as they look to finally make 2023 their year in the LEC and beyond. Only legendary mid laner and captain Perkz survived the exodus, and he is joined by fellow Europeans Neon and Kaiser in the bot lane, the latter being a two-time LEC champion.

Stealing all the spotlight, however, is the new imported top side of the map with top laner Photon joining Vitality after a stellar year with T1's development team. Even more exciting is the long-awaited LEC debut of Chinese prodigy jungler Bo, who has been learning English and acclimatizing to his new home and team since June 2022. If Bo can live up to expectations, he might just tear up the league in the same fashion as he has been dominating solo queue on the EUW server.

Despite a disappointing early exit from Worlds, Top Esports will be running a very similar roster in 2023 to the one that nearly won them the LPL title in the 2022 Summer Split.

One exciting change, however, is on the way, with mid laner Rookie joining his former teammate JackeyLove, reuniting part of the IG team that won Worlds in 2018. With jungler Tian also having a title to his name, TES have more than enough champions to finally live up to their international expectations.

Last year, Team Liquid fielded a nearly entirely European roster, perhaps the strongest on paper the LCS has ever seen. However, after failing to even make it to Worlds, the former powerhouse team has now opted for a full Korean-speaking roster in 2023.

Long-term veteran support CoreJJ will be joined by two young guns in mid and bot, both of whom will benefit greatly from his guidance. Meanwhile, top laner Summit will be returning for his second stint in the North American league after finding personal success in the first half of 2022. The true eyebrow raiser, though, is the addition of jungler Pyosik after his equally surprising Worlds victory.

Nongshim RedForce's development team dominated the LCK Challengers League in 2022. As such, the organization has opted to promote all five players to the main roster.

Whilst this team of rookies won't be expected to contend at the top with Korea's best, they may just surprise everyone and storm out of the gates, carrying on their form from 2022. Unlike other teams, they already have their cohesion in place, and Korean rookies are known for their fearlessness.

Weibo Gaming are looking to make their second year in the LPL a big one with the acquisition of what can only be described as a super team. From Worlds winners TheShy and Crisp to an old duo of Karsa and Xiaohu who won MSI together, this roster has incredible potential.

Whether this potential can be reached, however, is another question entirely. Over the years, many rosters stacked with big names have ultimately failed. What is certain, though, is that watching this team will be pure entertainment either way.

Excel Esports are known for their long and arduous journey to reach the LEC playoffs, with the accomplishment eluding them for years until finding success in 2022. Now, however, they have built themselves a roster that can go even further and fans are rightfully excited.

Key to their plans for the LEC title in 2023, are the acquisitions of top laner Odoamne and support Targamas, two recent LEC champions. On top of this, they have secured the services of one of the most promising European players: mid laner Vetheo, who won MVP in Spring 2022. As Vetheo has never had the chance to play with other top players, this could be his year to dominate.

As Doublelift is returning from a two-year retirement to look for his ninth title, the bot laner is going to have the eyes of North America and beyond on him.

Also joining the team are two young rookies promoted from the academy roster, who will doubtless be eager to learn from their veteran teammates. Meanwhile, former LCS champion and jungler Closer is the only member of the 2022 roster to remain after continuing to impress in recent years.

Joining them and giving JDG the potential for even more this year is one of the best mechanical players in the world, knight. An even more surprising arrival is former world champion bot laner Ruler, who is leaving the LCK for the first time to test his prowess in China.

Equally exciting is the return of Viper, who also managed to win Worlds during his time in China with EDG. Fans can be sure he will be eager to prove he is the best bot laner in the world. With Clid and Life closing out the roster, Hanwha Life Esports might just be looking at their first title-contending year.
